Need help : FL game
-
There’s no real way to determine it that I’m aware of.
There was the original release and an update by MS that upgraded it to version 1.1, but you wouldn’t see that ingame anywhere. Even FLServer when updated to 1.1 still calls itself Freelancer version 1.
Now, I’m guessing you’re concerned about the legitimacy of an install source of dubious provenance?
If so, you can verify the exe and the dll dates against those of a vanilla install and then perhaps overwrite all the ini files with either the SDK update (1.3 or QuickFix), or the more advanced JFLP update by Adoxa (all hail Adoxa, may he live forever).
Retail disks are still available for nominal cost, usually around $10USD in the US anyway. I see them on ebay and occasionally in the bargain bins of office supply stores, target, etc. I usually grab a couple/few if I see them.
My Freelancer disks have never asked for a registration/activation code. I’ve heard that some players have needed a code to install. That’s never been the case for me.
So, short of comparing file dates and sizes against a vanilla installation, I’m not aware of any other methods to verify.

what ST meant, that if you launch the game (not install, start), it asks you to put the cd into the cd drive. this is however no indicator of a vanilla game. -

how i can scan my FL game if it is Original or not ???If you bought it, in original packaging, and it asks you to insert the CD to play after you have installed it, then it’s original.
If it does not meet this description then it is not original.
If I remember right the filesize and date of the original freelancer.exe and a cracked “No-CD” version shows as the same.
And lastly, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the original freelancer.exe is possibly tamper-proof or compressed, and cannot have the version changed with ResHacker? So you could try to do that and if my memory is correct you will find out.
Otherwise I would say it’s almost impossible to tell.
If it’s an .iso file I would say it’s almost certain not original.
So - what do you intend to do if it is not original?

(G: ) is Placebo tablet , i useing it for launch ISO without CD , so why FL need ask me for CD .
if it not original i will see some files made in 2008 or so
i got my FL in 2005 , when i back to link in 2009 i found it deleted . so why it is deleted ??? because it is original .

as said, a vanilla game has vanilla files: file sizes equal to the ones from the cd CAB’s, file dates equal to the ones from the CAB’s, file names, file types, everything.
however, vanilla is an extendable terminus. do you call 1.0 vanilla or with the official patch? is a vanilla with bugfixing SDK files, vanilla, too? is the GLS workaround keeping the game vanilla, do the HD textures?
