Looks like your ports are not being passed through.
Right-click on your connection icon and select Change Windows Firewall Settings, or Start - Control Panel - Windows Firewall.
On the “General” tab, ensure the firewall is On, and “Don’t allow exceptions” is NOT checked.
On the “Exceptions” tab ensure that “Freelancer” and/or “FL Server”, and “Microsoft DirectPlay8 Server” are listed and ticked.
Also ensure that “Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program” is ticked.
When you started Freelancer for the first time there should have been an alarm window allowing you to Unblock it. This is issued only to Administrator accounts, non-admin accounts will only have a warning saying “xxx program is blocked, contact your Administrator”.
Failing this, delete all entries in the Exceptions tab and start FLServer.exe again, unblock it, and do the same for Freelancer.exe.
At some point the MS DirectPlay8 Server should also be alerted for unblocking.

Everything checks out, but still no dice. I went ahead and shut down the firewall just to see if it may be the problem. Can you try to login again?

Still no good. The ping time is showing as ???.
How is it connected to your ISP?
And did you disable IPv6?

I ran “uninstall ipv6” from the command prompt and it said IPv6 is not installed.
The box is wired to a Cisco e1000 router which is plugged into a DSL modem. I’ve got the server IP set to DMZ temporarily until I can figure out why no one can connect (then I’ll set port forwarding). There are no other firewalls (I did turn Windows firewall back on, btw).
I’m stumped.

Can you bypass the router temporarily by plugging straight into the modem?

You can also install/uninstall it from a cmd prompt:
To Uninstall IPv6 from a Computer from the Command Prompt
1. To open a Command Prompt window, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type netsh interface, and then press ENTER.
3. At the command prompt, type ipv6 uninstall, and then press ENTER.
4. Restart the computer.Note The IPv6 configuration procedures require that you have administrative credentials on the computer.

That’ll probably be my next step. I’ll have to wait until later though. The wife is using the net for work right now.

UPDATE
I discovered that the model router I have (Cisco e1000) requires that my DSL modem be set to “Bridge” mode, otherwise no ports will forward (even using DMZ). I managed to get it switched and now my port tester is finding the forwarded ports (which it didn’t before). The last step is actually having someone connect.
Can someone with a vanilla version of FL try to connect to my server?

On the global server it is: Freeport2 24/7 RPG Server

I can see you but can’t connect, and your IP is 71.55.27.214
Are you sure MS Directplay8 Server is also unblocked?

Correct on the IP (I forgot to update it when I pasted, :oops: ).
DirectPlay8 uses the same ports as FL, correct? It’s also checked off as an exception in Windows firewall. Do you still get the ??? ping?

Just rebooted the server box. Any luck now?
