Original Freelancer Playthrough

Still loving these videos.
While fighting use the A and D keys to strafe, this makes you harder to hit. Also use the opposite strafe to your turn, for faster turning… so…
if your turning left use D, if your turning right use A.
Keep up the good work

I didn’t go and pick up the ship called ‘Defender’ in this play session, and i’m now quite far away and Liberty hate me (You’ll see in a future episode) so I could do with some advice about where to pick one up?
Also, EPISODE 13 went up last night.

Get a Crusader from a Bretonian battleship then, that should be your next stop on the way.
-
Finish this instead. I demand you do it.

Watched part 14 and now please please please listen…
- STOP BEING A SITTING DUCK! Seriously, I was scared through half the video that you’d get nuked in half a second without any possibility of reacting. You’re getting in the real part of the story now; you can’t stand still shooting at stuff anymore. You need to be constantly on the move, and not just with standard engines, because 80’s not gonna cut it. You need to be thrusting, moving with engine kill and constantly dodging. If you don’t, you’ll die often.
Your foray with the battleship was very very dangerous. If it had actually required you to destroy it (as opposed to Walker’s cruiser doing most of the job), you would’ve died from the constant pummeling of the heavy guns. Keep a move on, please!
- USE CRUISE. We’ve already told you, but I’ll repeat: cruise is faster, and when you’re running for your life with dozens of ships firing at your ass, you need to leg it, fast. Thrusters won’t cut it; they’ll run out quickly and then you’ll be entirely hosed. Cruise has a charge time, but it’s quick and then you’re flying fast enough to avoid gun shots. Look at Juni, she was cruising the whole time. The game was balanced so that a cruising ship is just about impossible to hit, so take advantage of that, especially since you don’t encounter cruise disruptors unless you’re not supposed to go in cruise. Remember, it’s Shift+W. Stop using the UI, it’ll slow you down too much.
Watching those clips is really fun, but I’m pulling my hair out when I’m seeing you getting out of things by a hair. You don’t need to be an ace, but just doing that will give you more breathing room.

I can’t agree more with FF here. You need to keep moving. When I saw you just sit still and trade fire with a DREADNOUGHT, I was forced to ask WHAT THE HELL IS HE THINKING.
FL asks you to do some crazy things sometimes, but it does straight up ASK you to do them. If something’s big and scary and the game hasn’t told you to kill it, chances are that you’re supposed to be running scared sh*tless. That being said, you did a good job of that right when you launched from Manhattan XD.
As for your missile fetish, if you’re going to continue to use them, DONT WASTE THEM. You’ve noticed that when an AI is turning, you don’t hit them with missiles? So then don’t fire them when the AI is turning. Wait till you have a good shot (straight behind/directly in front). Personally, I’d not bother with missiles till much later in the game where large amounts of static damage becomes important for reasons which I’ll leave you to find out.
And lastly, just to reiterate what FF has said, MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE
Move.
