Freelancer Status on 2012 ?
-
Hi,
I’m new to Starport, but not new to Freelancer.
Well … I stop playing it many years ago.
I finished the game in single player, then I lost myself in multiplayer … so many hour of my life wasted
So how it it playing today? I read that graphics are improved, that resolution is up, some bugs were corrected, there is a QuickFix that should be installed over initial installation to put the game in shape, or so it seemed so.
But there were some things that anoyed me, the most important was the static economy … the products that were always at the same price, in the same bases, and so there was always a quicker and predicted route to earn some big cash from the start.
How does all this come nowadays? I’m thinking about exploring some more soon.
Thanks.

Welcome, smuggler.
Well, there are servers that have a dynamic economy system running, e.g. the Hamburg City Server, but for single player this is immpossible exept for random prices as far as I know. Note that fpr joining such a server you might need the mod this server runs.

Try out some of the different mods available: Crossfire, Freeworlds, Discovery, ShatteredWorlds, Hamburg City and many others. See the community network bar at the top of this page for links.
A lot of freelancer activity happens on multiplayer servers and it’s worth checking out some of them. On one server we managed for a time to get 225 players online at the same line although generally the server population is smaller than this.
