Obj sur build problem.

Tanks mate. I’m wondering what you did different then me. Even though its not covering 100%, you got at least I say 65% of it. How did you do it? Here’s what I did:
Imported to ms3d
obj out to lithunwrap
selected all and optimized
obj back into ms3d and selected all
Welded together
obj out to Smack’s obj converter
left everything normal and got mine crappy surWhat did I miss?

I could reproduce the error and it is the perfect testcase I was looking for: Not much polygons but no correct .sur file. Hopefully this helps to find the last remaining bugsWhen I reimport the generated .sur file in milkshape it is all messed up. Really strange error…

First, sorry for getting your name wrong. :oops: I’m guessing your getting the same error I am. Thanks for looking into it. I hope it helps you in the future with your great sur builder. I’ve even used LS’s sur builder and got the same error:
It might be the model, but I’m unsure and have no idea how to figure that out. Hope this helps somehow.

It’s not the model. I got the same issue with the OBJ->SUR converrter, tried a few permutations and got the same result as you. Have a few more models, maybe 5 at most where i simply cannot make a sur using the utility.
Onto LS’s sur maker, after a bit of fiddling i made one. There are numerous options, and after pressing them in turn i finally generated what looks like a working sur. I’ve attached it here, give it a go and let me know if it works.

I just split the model with another program (Khed) into some groups then imported with ms3d , convextool each groups and export as obj ,
And i used finally schmackbolzens tool to generate sur . I encountered also your problems for this and other sur models but that is not a very big problem , model can be easily modified. I think the most important for Schmackbolzen is to make the group separated sur not actually to fix this problem . I guess the problem is actually with the face normals , but i

I made the same sur you did after a few goes with LS’s sur builder. It seem not to regesiter all hits. I appercate your contrubition to this.
Now I have more errors, my Battleship/destroyers have no sound fx while using original cap weapons. No idea why, backtracked everything. Though I did change the rumble fx for the ships, maybe thats drowning them out. Hmmm I have to check. Thanks guys for your help.

As well as Gisteron’s suggestion check the number of HpFire you have on the weapons, even vanilla weapons with 2 or more HpFire were silent.
