New SP Storylines : Build your own base
-
I was waiting for a punch line like “stop dreaming and get a life!”
-
I can’t think of a single reason anyone would say no. Bit puzzled by it though, seeing as you’re always on the move during the storyline.
-
Just how exactly are you going to implement interactive equipping the home base with internal and external equipment? And what would it be good for anyway, unless the story is all about building that home and protecting it against attackers at some point?
I see how these would be stupendous features in multiplayer, but that could not have been accomplished with an ingame interface yet; and even if it was, considering how few players we have left, the usefullness of the idea is fairly questionable IMO.
I’m sure there are other games where this is easier to implement and more interesting to play, too -
Hm, do you mean that players would have the ability to choose from different paths?
For example, choice A: recruit Kusari shipwrights to build Kusari ships at your base, choice B: recruit Bretonian ones to build Bretonian ships, choice make and sell pizzas with leftover Nomad meat as toppings, and so on.If players don’t have the ability to make choices, and can progress through a linear path only (like the vanilla SP story), then I’d say it’s quite doable, and would still make for an interesting campaign.

@Timmy51m, return between missions …hell maybe you even found a derelict base module somwhere and had it brought back to be attached to “Trent Town” or “Edison City”?
@Gisteron, everybody needs a home man, you cant be space truckin’ forever and you need a place for your long lost family + wouldnt it be the coolest thing?
@cmdrsaman, yes several oppoutunities. but why limit it to known faction ships, maybe somewhere theres an unemployed MechGineer ready with some original ship schematics. ;D
@Khayman, yes i know
@SolCommand, i only mod on this game and you gotta admit it would be damn cool + how are you gonna stand against the next invasion without the wingmen you grow on your base + you gotta build the AIdrones and the Corsair-platforms off the schematic you bought in New Crete or who knows what will happen!

Of course it could be done rather life-like…
You draw up the plans, get Planning Permission from the Server owner, and hire the contractor - all done by email.
You hand over the first stage payment - transfer credits to the contractor - in-game.
The builders build the frame for the new dwelling, and place it in the required location. The new owner (and other players) can fly round it, inspect it, be proud of it, defend it against NPCs. But of course can’t land on it.
Then after paying for Stage 2 it would have a structure…
After paying for Stages 3 to n: completion, docking facility, furnishing, decoration, and hand over the keys.
This could be done over several months, allowing for life-parallel delays like illness, the contactor taking on too much, and you know what else.
Sounds fun.
Now - integrate all the talk and path and choices programmatically into the game? Not sure.
-
@StarTrader, sounds to me like your talking multiplayer, my idea was for SP only aka done via storyline mostly.
and i know how to do it too
what im trying to find is if theres still players left who would be interested in this…
Its alot of work and theres no reason to set the table if people aint hungry ;D

I’m sure we would all like to see what you can come up with, but you have to decide whether you want to do it or not.
-
Rasauul, it doesn’t matter so much if others want it, the question I think is if you want to have a go and see the fruits of your work.
With any mod, the modders feel a great deal of satisfaction and happiness from making it.
From my viewpoint, yes I would like to see what you know and what you learn from it too.
But if you want to do it for others, I think there will be only a few who appreciate your work really.
So? Do it for yourself, but only if you want to.
Single Player? Not a delight, to have your own base/home built in front of your eyes. Because nobody else can see it except your wife, and she probably won’t be so pleased about the time you spend playing with yourself!

Also he may extend it with different difficulties for player to get spectacular results in the end - and make a contest too.
After all - except for him, he is making it for community, aswell.Important note - do it only if its from satisfaction - and NOT a NEED.
And, as always, easy - NO RUSH!
Good luck, m8 -
@StarTrader haha, she dont care about my modding and she doesnt mind the other part :E hahaha
