Twisted Evolutions 2.29 Nomad's Revenge Server
-
Hi all,
I’m Wraith. I used to play on the Nima e-sports Server. You may remember me from OPG or KuPo along with my two brothers Soraya and Myst. ([OPG]Gentle is still around for any that remember him btw, playing “Eve: Online” with myself, Soraya, Myst, Bashar, Migrond and a few others)
I am currently attempting to bring back an NR II 2.29 server which is currently up and running.
Some work is still to be done but I hope that with a few interested players we can bring back this once thriving mod.
I honestly believe 2.29 was the best mod ever produced for Freelancer and it’d be great to meet some old and new faces whilst playing again.
Rules are still in process, and are going to be somewhat different to what most FL servers are, I suspect. Think harsh, and unforgiving. It’s what Eve taught me :]
Thanks all, hope to see a few of you in game! o/
PS If it’s not showing in the list the server IP is 86.136.187.191:2302

Mod description?
-
Sorry, my bad. It’s been years since I’ve been able to find the server mod files (on here - thanks for that )
It’s the Nomads Revenge II Evolution 2.29 mod that used to run on Nima e-sports server. I’ll try find a full mod description and I’ll post it as soon as I do.
-Wraith
-Edit- wow, I forgot how hard it is to find info on this mod, no wonder it’s taken me years to find :-?
I’ll keep looking. There’s a few youtube vids kicking around. Sorry to be so little help, it’s been 10 years since I dusted FL off and it’s only managing to find the mod that’s given me the kick I needed
-
The thing he asked for is a little summary of why this mod is so great in your opinion.
Was is special? Unique features? What gameplay changes? How many new ships? etc. -
Well, no he just asked for a mod description, to be fair. He was very concise about it, in fact
Tbh I’m no hardcore freelancer fan, I can’t tell you the backstory much or anything like that… I can tell you a little of what I remember but this is just the only mod that ever made an impression on me so really I was hoping to catch the eye of a few old guys who already have played the mod. If they have, they’ll know and remember why it was so awesome
As to those that don’t…um…capships, very heavy fighters, large trains, mining vessels, longbeams, umm…extra systems…lol as I say it’d be easier for me to find a mod description (which is proving very hard for some reason :S)
Gameplay changes? Hard to say, as I say I was never the most hardcore fan I can’t really remember the differences from vanilla. Harder npc’s i think for one…higher payouts…new factions.
Back in the Nima days I was brought into the world of online gaming and from there I played Eve and lost a good six years of my life in there…lol.
But I still remember clans like BPS and OPG and Hive and WT and so many others and I wonder what happened to them all, if they’re still playing games, which ones etc.
I remember Nomad invasions of Bretonia, using the Trains t smuggle refugees from Alpha to Berlin, while the hunter clans chased us relentlessly
I remember epic Capital Ship fights around Tokyo, defending against Pirate clan invasions.
So when I found the mod I thought why not get a server running, hope a few old players saw a post and figured they’d dust off the mod and jump in and join us for some fun.
So, as I say I’ll try find a better mod description for those that don’t know the mod but until then, if you really want to know what it’s like, download the client side mod from this website and come see for yourself

Mod description? So many years before, 2.29 is the one of popular mod in Freelancer community as the Discovery mod today. I think it’s already a good answer for the description, you don’t even have to know the detail. But i suggest you to find it and try it. Old fashion but cool.
I remember the “Guangdong Province” system, which have interesting multi-layer structure. (I don’t know it in the original mod or just remodded by some modder in China)
I only could say, i spend a part of my best time on Freelacer in this mod. Even this time far before i start mod the game.

Player Information
All the original warnings below still apply aswell.
-
DO NOT mount power capacitors onto a Nomad ship, doing so unmounts the invisible Nomad power plant. You CANNOT remount this unit.
-
For role play reasons, to become a “Nomad” and to use their ships etc requires server operator intervention.
-
DO NOT have more than 100 unmounted items of any kind on one character, doing so will corrupt your account/character.
-
IF you have upgraded from Evolutions 1.28 to 2.29NRII, then if any of your charractors had a Shield Generator mounted on any ships etc. You will now have an item called “Unknown Item” in your cargo hold. You may sell this item for $10,000.
-
If you are upgrading to 2.29NRII from 2.28NR and one or more of your charractors has a train, then it will now be able to “mount” cargo pods. However the orginal cargo pods from 2.28NR Vers 1.1 will still be mounted on the pod hard points. You may sell these pods as normal which will have no name/details on their mounted box and replace them with the 2.29 Cargo pods.

PLAYER LOOTING - which is down to Wasabe!!! Congratulations, you have changed the MP aspect of the game forever!
It now has the possiblity of being REAL roleplay, as looting of players is now possible. Piracy anyone?
Wasabe also won the Lancers Reactor Greatest ever modder award - which i personally think THIS development
he discovered ECLIPSES the server errors readout!!!

PantherX started out as the first member, and is therefore responsible for most of the ships.
All ships are of Pathfinderstudios origin originals, and each member textured their own models.PantherX: The Fury, Serpentail, Paladin, Orca, Hellhound, Testudo, Gladius, Halberd, Cimmarron, Mustang, Trident
and the Red Hessian Versions of the Border World Ships, The Mining Ship.
Osprey: The Sentinel.
Illero: The Mining Ship. Each member does far more than just model, with Illero working upon further ships projects, and stations models.
Osprey works upon icons as well as ships, and also undertakes ini coding as well
(he is responsible for systems shortest path files). Osprey also features heavily in hardpointing many new
ships, especially Firebases ships that were exported again from Milkshape upon completion of retexturing
and removal of some poly’s. To use any of these models is forbidden without express permission of
Pathfinderstudios and the creator of the models. For the time being, the models are to remain exclusive
to Evolutions, which means that permission will not be granted to enable use for other modifications.
They may not feature in any publicly available or circulated modifications unless permission is granted by
Pathfinderstudios. In future they may be released for general use.=====================|=====================

The Ships:
The Raven
The Raven was modelled and Textured by Wanderer.
www.ioncross.comWanderer left the Freelancer community at the Lancers Reactor, although I believe he still remains active
at Ioncross, and may be involved in the upcoming Ioncross multiplaying extravaganza modification.
Wanderer left a “free to use” open end invitation to modders as long as credits are correct and pointing
towards him his models/textures. However, out of decency, if you wish to use Wanderers models, you should
either find his email address in the download section of TLR (under one of his models), from his
profile on the forums, or trip on over to Ioncross to find out more information.Wanderer was instrumental along with several other members at Lancers Reactor for getting modifications
working, and teaching the new how to do this as well. One of the best contributors and sources of knowledge
there were.=====================|=====================

The Ships:
The Snub
The Soulstealer
The Babylon5 Cargo Freighter Small
The Babylon5 Cargo Freighter LargeThe Snub fighter and Soulstealer are Giskards original designs, not based upon any program or show.
Giskard owns the models and therefore reserves the right to use the models if anyone else modifies them.
You must ask permission from Giskard to use his models if you wish to have them in a mod.
You may ask him via the forums of his website.Giskard is currently working with a group of modders for X2 the threat, although his own Hostile Universe
modification remains popular, and one of the best single player modifications out there. He has also produced
many documents for the community in the aid of teaching modding techniques, handy tools like the empty dll
file and more. Giskard has also created many mods in the past for other games, including Mechwarriors
and Medival total war. Giskard was another person who was instrumental in enabling popular modifications
via teaching people at Lancers Reactor - and remains a friend.=====================|=====================

Evolutions Textures by PantherXThe above mentioned ships are all modelled and made by Firebase, who has a ship-pack containing those said
ships. Firebase also textured the ships, and continues to contribute freely to the freelancer community.
You can find Firebase at Lancers Reactor, although I believe he is also working upon a project.
Firebase not only makes ships, but also undertakes a nifty bit of modding himself, where he is the first person
i am aware of to have working traderoutes inside a modification. He aslo moddified many other things in the
game, and is an all round talent. To use any of Firebases models, you MUST ask for permission from Firebase/
Sun Stalker. You may download his shippack from the location of Lancers Reactor - there are links from the
above website URL. Firebase has a new unseen ship in the pipeline.Firebases ships that appear in Evolutions have been re-textured by PantherX - and some have had their CMP
files slightly altered to accomodate textures, include the extra mounts and more.
All permissions were granted from Firebase for this task. However, if you wish to use the textures for the ships from Evolutions, you MUST ask for permission from
PantherX (Head of the Modelling Team) or from Pathfinderstudios itself.
You can find contact information at www.pathfinderstudios.comIn the event that you wish to use the models AND textures - permissions must be sought from both parties.
The models remain the property of Firebase.

I remember this mod and run it myself on a private server for a short while. I changed to Disco because more of my friends wanted to play that one instead. Run that for like 3+ years then started getting hacked so I shut it down.
Good mod.
