Steering while in turret view

I had a player ask me a question today that I did not have an answer for. He wanted to know how to set up capships to steer while in turret view.

He thought that if the Turn Left and Turn Right options in the controls were mapped to appropriate keys he should be able to do that. I’ve not heard of anyone doing it before and I’ve not had a chance to try it but just in case, has anyone successfully pulled this off before?
