Windows 2008 r2 server issues
-
Hello, all. I’ve been running fine with an XP server. But recently Disco made some changes to FLHook 3 and had issues w/ the xp and hook. Issues are fixed now but in the interim I set up the server on a machine running windows 2008 r2.
I used the same numbers in tcp/ip under ipv4 that I had for the XP machine. I unchecked IPV6 and even disabled it under regedit using HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TCPIP6\Parameters\Disabledcomponents w/ a value of ffffffff
I added the ports to outbound rules under TCP in the firewall individually and did a netstat -an w/ the game running. I cannot see the ports in the list and I cannot see the server in the server list.
Anyone know what I’m missing? I’d hate to go back to XP.
Thanks.

You installed the DirectPlay module? It’s no longer installed by default with Vista and up.

Just install it.

Hi,
I added the ports to outbound rules under TCP in the firewall individually and did a netstat -an w/ the game running. I cannot see the ports in the list and I cannot see the server in the server list.
Just one point, Flserver uses UDP and not TCP, so if you don’t add rules under UDP it’s normal to not see your server in the list and it can’t be accessed by others.
Cheers

Maybe, by installing directx 9.0c (wish is the version running on XP), it installs the missing directplay, just a theory

DirectPlay is separate from DirectX and was deprecated with version 9 so you need to install it separately for it to work. It should show up as an option on 2008 R2.
You also need to disable DEP for flserver.exe.
