Windows 2008 r2 server issues
-
No. Looking for it now. Just install it or do I need to modify anything?
-
Just install it.
-
OK, I don’t see legacy features or directplay. in the add features section. Looking for more info on google
-
Hmmm, I think I installed business instead of Home. Think that might be the issue>

Hi,
I added the ports to outbound rules under TCP in the firewall individually and did a netstat -an w/ the game running. I cannot see the ports in the list and I cannot see the server in the server list.
Just one point, Flserver uses UDP and not TCP, so if you don’t add rules under UDP it’s normal to not see your server in the list and it can’t be accessed by others.
Cheers

I had tcp in win xp and it ran fine. I’ll try adding the udp after I’m done with updates. I did see a 2302 udp in netstat but nothing coming in. Thanks for the help. I’ll try it and let you know.
-
OK, added the udp to firewall and no dice. I ran updates but don’t see DirectPlay or legacy features anywhere. Still looking.
-
OK. I checked and I have directx 11 on the server. Still cannot find info on directplay.
-
Maybe, by installing directx 9.0c (wish is the version running on XP), it installs the missing directplay, just a theory
-
Nope. Directx 9 did nothing.
-
DirectPlay is separate from DirectX and was deprecated with version 9 so you need to install it separately for it to work. It should show up as an option on 2008 R2.
You also need to disable DEP for flserver.exe.

OK, thanks. I went back to xp but I plan to continue testing this out. Thanks for the help.
