Torpedo Prob

Ive been modding wep stats and now for some reason when i launch the torpedoesthe act as if i had them on a delay then speed past me then slow back down, sorta like being on a stretched rubber band. ive set everthing back to the way it was but the problem still persists. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This will be related to the values you have set in the motor.
The motor tells the torpedo what to do when you fire it.
so you can set it to have say a 4 second delay and then it will start to move.

also a torp with a muzzle velocity slower than the ship firing it will fall a bit behind before accelerating past it.
The slow down may be related to the lifetime of the motor. When this is up, the motor ceases propelling and it won’t accelerate anymore.

Actually, tests I’ve done show that the muzzle_velocity is supposed to be added on top of the ship’s speed. This is how some people in a mod I’ve worked on could greatly extend missiles range from 20k to over 30k.

**To protect the player that is firing add this to your ammo or gun entry
owner_safe_time = 4
The ammo will not shot the person who fired it for 4 seconds.**

Maybe there’s a “linear_drag = xxxx” entry in the [Munition] section.

Yes, it works when you thrust or cut engine in cruise. When flying simple impulse speed it will drop and accelerate itself. That’s what makes torps so dangerous to yourself when firing them
At least it is behaving like that in our mod
you can get the same result from lagging not that im one to talk ofc ;D

This does not repeat more than once does it, Do these torpedoes then speed back up, then slow back down again?
