I’ve simillar problem(but not one regarding syntax).
Does anyone know what program is needed for making txm or sph files ?
It seems noone made tutorial for making “brand” new planet or at least I haven’t seen it / found it yet.
Thanks in advance. -
TXM’s are nothing more than the texture library that you find in ship MAT files, using UTF Edit you can either alter an existing one or make your own.
The SPH can’t be made, but they are so easy to alter with UTF Edit. The Sphere node has 9 sub nodes, they are M0, M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, Radius & Sides, M0 to M6 are the material assignments (the Material Library names inside the MAT file) and can be changed to suit by editing it as a “String”. Radius is the size of the planet you see, and can be edited as “float array”, the Sides node you don’t want to touch.

A fast and easy way to get a new planet is using a model (CMP)
with a nice texture.Take care of the SUR and
set the damage in the area of the planet XTREM high
(otherrrwise NPCs might spawn inside your planet
and won’t get out [before your server crashes]) -
I second that, custom planets is the easiest way to go, you can add glowmaps as well, and you only have to worry about one texture instead of the freelancer six texture setup that they use. You can also convert the texture to DDS format thereby saving tonnes of space and keeping file sizes down. CMP or 3DB, most convenient way to do it in my opinion.
