Whenever I try to go from the “new character” Screen to try and get into the server,
The server will crash,
The server log throws out NOTHING,
and FLspit throws out:
WARNING:General: DA SYSTEM: trailing references
Anyone have any ideas what the hell this means?

Maybe
–- the base (base / rooms?), your new char starts at or
(can you get at that base with an old char?)
— the ship + equipment it gets.
(can you buy that ship with an old char?) -
**This was found years ago on the old TLR, the trailing reference error is simply a space character at the end of one of your INI entries. It won’t cause a crash.
I would suggest you make sure all of your encounters are there, that is usually the cause of a login crash. You could also move yourself to another system to verify that is what is causing it.**

The failed to get start location is pretty common and I don’t believe it causes crashes.

I’d be much worried about this and would try to fix that one ASAP.

That’s the thing that is bothering me,
The only base that would refer to is the Ne01_01_base right?
Well that is all referenced correctly,
And I know it’s not an archtype because it doesn’t say,
So would the best thing to do be to do a CRC check or something like that? -
Yes. Run CRCTool and check what’s that CRC about… A spelling mistake is very possible, you know

WARNING: Failed to get start location - Everybody gets this, load a save game it happens, play OSP it happens, play MP it happens, the only time it doesn’t happen is when you select “New Game” and go and play the story.

A couple of suggestions
Did you make a loadout for it in loadouts.ini?
You referenced a base in universe.ini, but not the system for it. Is it there?
Did you build new paths? (shortest_legal_path etc)

and, even though a few of these folks might disagree with me, I would recommend setting your start place through the newcharacter.ini rather than the mpnewcharacter.fl. I have been doing it this way for 2 years with no problems.
