Color Jack
-
Here’s a web tool I ran across somewhere down the line. Those working with ALE files, or heck any image composition project, should find it useful. T’is a bit of a tricked out Color picker -similar to photoshop or paintslop’s. Particularly handy are the Clash and Complimentary modes. Without further adieu … Color Jack: Sphere

Blurry good, pal!
Pity I don’'t have a clue on how to use it or what for!
-
lol well one use is… say you’‘re making an beam or engine effect, you start throwing purple and brown together you’'re going to end up making someone vomit.
So, this shows decent color opposites, compliments, etc. which look good together or provide striking differences that work well.

Help me out a bit, Mini-Me,
Show me a couple of examples of how to use it?
I’m real dumb on this subject but would love to be able to use it properly. I use Paint.Net for textures etc, can I adapt Color Jack for it?

Hrm, I suppose you could just eye it and toss your Paint.net color in there, then pick which type of scheme to use in Color Jack (opposite, complement, supplement, or whatever other options it has -been a lil while since I’ve started a new texture).
Basically, ColorJack just gives you easy access to seeing what colors look good together. If Paint.net uses Hex values or 256 bit values (as you can with Photoshop) that makes things easier too.
Say you’re deciding on a “whack” new engine to impress the thronging masses of ladies with.
To start, you decide on your base color: k, Rhinland thrusters look badass, so I want mine green too, but not like… you know, a ripoff.
So you recall the shade of green it appears as in game (or if you want to be precise, crack open the ALE file and get the exact value). Then you input that color into ColorJack and pick a scheme -as mentioned above. This will then show you many different variations of colors you could use in the effect.Same goes for texturing your new “phat” ride: figure out your base overall color, and ColorJack can give you ideas for what Accent pieces will look good as.
It’s also great if you are a color blind artist (if you are one, pat yourself on the back, 'cause I think you’re pretty rare).

Ohkay, I’ll try it and see sometime, Tx.
