Since your monitor is 16:9 instead of 16:10 like most widescreen computer monitors you’ll need to set a different fov than the one posted. Open up Data\Cameras.ini. You’ll need to calculate a new FOV for each of the fovx entries, which can be done using FOV Calc. Enter the original value in the “Default FOV” box and set the “New Aspect Ratio” to 16:9. Click “Calculate FOV” and the correct value for your monitor should appear, which you can then paste into Cameras.ini.
Next you’ll need to edit FL’s config file at My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\PerfOptions.ini. Change the size entry under [Display] to```
size= 1920, 1080Now FL should run at the native resolution of your monitor. Note that the FOV settings will only take effect once you have launched into space, however.

I have a 1440x900 widescreen 16:10 and I have had some time getting around WinCamera fovx, but after only half an hour I found out that fovx value of 63 is just enough for me.
This is the complete cameras.ini[WinCamera] fovx = 63 [CockpitCamera] fovx = 80.0806445763 znear = 2.000000 [ThirdPersonCamera] fovx = 80.0806445763 [DeathCamera] fovx = 80.0806445763

Does anybody know how to calculate new fixed_height values for the fonts?
EDIT: I tried using the calculator for 1280x1024, which gave me the following values:
[WinCamera] fovx = 51.4807577023 [CockpitCamera] fovx = 66.5644552838 znear = 2.000000 [ChaseCamera] fovx = 66.5644552838 [DeathCamera] fovx = 66.5644552838
Now, the screen looks like this:
My playername is test1, so ~4 characters are chopped off… is this fixed with setting the font-heights? Also, the HUD seems a bit chopped off at the ends… but I guess one can’t improve that, given that the elements just about align correctly with 4:3 fovx values.
-
Regarding the hud, you should play with these values try modifying them, put larger or smaller number, until you get what you want.
[WinCamera]
fovx = 51.4807577023I think the rest of the screen looks fine, maybe a little distorted image but you won’t even notice that in a day of two.

Well in theory I should get rid of the distortion when using the differnt fov values. I set the WinCamera back to the default value, which sets the HUD back into the position it was in before the changes… which isn’t perfect but better for actual playing since the player’s names can be identified again
