FLCN V 2.0 Suggestions & Ideas

Nice extension of the network bar.
It would be nice if you can make the code XHTML valid… that means onMouseOut must be all in small letters
and
before the image close tag > there should be an slash / –-> so
nothing really serious…edit: I dont see the entire list (on this directed page - the overview) in IE7? any suggestions?

I’ve changed the onMouse events to use small letters, but making the IMG tags true XML tags somehow bugs the image in IE and I really can’t be assed fixing it so it will stay this way.
After much work, I’ve also found the culprit for the problem with IE on the complete FLCN page and have fixed it.
I’ll only say this: I hate IE; get Firefox or Opera. Dug for an hour for the issue and I just found it and it really pisses me off…
But yeah, all fixed

what do you mean with bugs the image? i thought its only to make it XHTML conform what side affect you are talking of - maybe there is another solution for it –> maybe a style problem?
BTW: Its not my intention to critism your work - i still think its a great idea and am grateful someone has invented such barAfter much work, I’ve also found the culprit for the problem with IE on the complete FLCN page and have fixed it.

Thx m8 i am using FF already - but gonna check my sites in IE as well as there it still has about 45% usage of all browsers

It probably is a style issue. From what I can tell, it seems like a margin/padding issue, likely because IE may have some sort of default margins for images. But to be honest, the XHTML compliance can wait just fine for now.
I know we should always try to test with IE, but I always forget and always try to push people to use either FF or Opera…
And don’t worry, comments are appreciated

i just found that the image is maybe not at the right place - so i added padding: 0px; to the id .class_flc_headbar TD
.class_flc_headbar TD { font-size: 11px; font-weight: normal; font-family: verdana; text-align: left; padding: 0px; }
This depends on the kind of forum and style that is used - but could solve some misplacement by the image

Not sure if this is the right section for it, but:
The -=REAVERS=- clan has a new adress.
The old one was www.reavers.forumotion.com
The new one is www.reavers.forumclan.comCould you please change this?
Thanks in advance.

May I ask if you would allow the use of the flcn bar software also for other purposes/communities/games/etc.?
-
You should have to ask w0dk4, who built the vast majority of the code.
-
Just as info, http://validator.w3.org/ reports some errors in the FLCN code. It also has the option to “tidy/clean” the code.
-
@Bas: Not inside the current FLCN. If you would like to use the code without sharing the same area as the current FLCN, you’d have to ask w0dk4.
As it is now, this is the Freelancer Community Network bar, and thus I don’t think expanding to other purposes would be innapropriate.
-
Eh, it was meant as a reminder to wodka
-
Ty, my idea was to use it as a space-sim community bar - Also to strengthen the whole genre community and to offer bored players of XYZ a easy jump to a other space-sim game. I could do the service by myself, but would T SP do it also? The advantages are at hand, you wrote the code, you can give a better support, improvements to the bar can be made here too,….so? (just an idea)
-
So…?
-
Hey Bas, good idea.
Let me redirect Worfeh and FF who prodominently look after the FLCN to this thread.
