Connecting to servers

Try unblocking ports 2300 to 2400, not just 2300. You may also want to try unblocking 47624 and 6073, as they also are used by DirectPlay, which FL runs on.
AVG has been known to cause a LOT of headaches with Freelancer. I’d suggest Avira Antivir, which is free; I’ve never had any issue with it running Freelancer.

Most firewalls allow to open a port range, which is more adequate.
If you really need a firewall, I suggest you try something else than the Windows Firewall, which is utter crap. ZoneAlarm, Sunbelt Personal Firewall and Comodo Firewall are three free ones that I’ve known to be good for the most part, although I use none personally.

This feature allows you to connect to a Freelancer server without having to connect to the global server.
This is useful for when the server admin does not want to advertise the server to the rest of the Internet,
or when the global server is down.To add an IP address and port to the list: enter the address and port below, then click the “Add Server” button.
Once you have entered all of the IP addresses you want, click the “Launch Freelancer” button.
| IP Address: | |
| Port: | |Command line: Freelancer.exe
The text above is what am trying to put the IP addy and Port number to any pointers please
