New idea concerning freelancer

Well I was thinking today, and since I’ve had pay pal and Steam I’ve brought a lot more games, all through steam. And I know one hell of a lot of gamers use steam, so what about if we contact whoever runs steam about the distribution of freelancer over steam and see if they could come to some sort of deal with Micro$oft, because M$ love more money and placing a game on steam generally means it’s going to get a few downloads, and with a game as great as FL with all the mods a lot of intrest is going to be generated.

There is only 1 problem with the idea…
Steam games are seperate from the retail… Ive had steam for years (since first days…) and everything that gets relesed through steam need to to be “re-purchased” through steam… I cant use X2 or VTM:B though Steam even though I own legit copys less than 3 years old… I have to “rebuy” them if i wanna play them on steam…
If an Agreement can be reached were current owners of FL can join too… then it has my Full 100% Backing…
If they pull the old “you must all rebuy your game” trick… well that sucks… and we’ll loose more than its worth…Sweet idea though… lets see were it goes… ;D ;D

Well you can always just add none steam games, then we can get steam to automatically add the Global server work around and the sdk or whatever to the people who are buying the game over steam.

Searching Steam Groups for Freelancer gives 288 hits…. hmm…
First few seem dead… but if we all “hijack” the official one?.. then we “should” get a responce lol

11 members so far… seems to be the better one to join… all the rest (as far as i can see here) are 1 man operations…
oh and I’ve seen debates about “who owns FL”… (Bas knows what i mean, GOG) seems Ubisoft may be the better bet…
and they already have games on steam… just a thought… Ubisoft is way easyer to deal with than MS… anyday lol…Basicaly it all comes down to $$ and how much they can make… If we prove they stand to make a profit… they wont be able to refuse the deal… Its just in their nature lol, if they see it as a loss… then were all screwed before we even begin.

I’d recommend informing some of the DIscovery, FL:CE, SW:WTS, CF, Void and Monkey Universe Admins as well about this. I’m sure we can get over a few hundred to join this group!
