There are been a number of people who have generously volunteered their time and skills to promote the game over the course of development. Lately there have been a number of people who also want to help out, but don’t know how. Well this is for you:

Forums

-mention FL in other forums
-add a banner, link, or FL quote to your other forum signatures.
-visit community forums of FL regulary and post there.
-welcome new members in the forum and help them become better players so the player base can grow!
-word your post titles carefully
-Create posts the describe the emotional attributes of the game that a first time player can relate to.
-seek and destroy trolls and correct misinformation about the game wherever you can.

E-mail/IM
-mention FL in a newsletter/mail list
-add http://www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer to your e-mail signature
-send an email to your friends linking the game.
-Put FL in your Instant Messenger (=ICQ, XFire, MSN…) message

-start a new FL clan
-introduce your existing clan to FL
-introduce another clan to FL

Create
-design a custom game mod
-create your own FL fan art, banners, and stories
-create a gameplay video for YouTube or add a response to the existing videos.

If you have the ressources to do so, please do it !! I am sure this can help Freelancer quite much !

-Add FL to your Facebook (or similar site)

-write comments, rate the game, add to your wishlist and participate in polls on sites
-Update the FL Wikipedia entry

Recruit
-schedule a release game party
-organize a FL tournament
-talk to people at school, work and clubs about FL gameplay.
-e-mail game magazines and websites about your experience/expectations with FL.
-visit/phone/email your nearest game store and ask about Freelancer.
-reset the homepage on demo computers
-Set the FL wallpaper wherever you go

;D everyone i know in RL… hates “that” word… Freelancer…

Totaly my fault… I’ve been FL. this and FL that for 4 years now…
I’ve even tried approaching local (and not so local) Netcafee’s to see if they’ll run FL as one of there games… to mixed results… but most told me to bugger off… “we play WOW here”… rotfl… whateva!..

I did get one taker… but that was XLR only… and XLR ain’t finished yet…

So… yeah… i’ve been at this for years in AUS… and i’ll keep going untill there is no more of me to go… one of the main reasons i decided to take XLR public was to try and create a “buzz” in AUS… and to drag all my old Lan buddys into it… so far… still just me, oh and my drummer (who i’ve molded into one darn scary pirate!) seems FL in AUS is … dead… I have absolutely no idea why… And continue to fight the good fight! no matter what growls, scorns or rolled eyes i recieve… ;D

Oh and whatever you do… dont post a thing on myspace game forums … I got chewed up by an admin there for trying to get a “FL still alive and kicking” Thread happening… I implore everyone who has acces to the Myspace forum to check it out… and see just what im talking about… they were quite… rude…

Point being peeps… There will be times when you’ll feel the whole world hates FL… and you for loving it… don’t get discouraged… give em the “hand”… and tell em to talk to it!.. then move along knowing that the FL community is here… and always will be in some form.

Im already doing a fair few things from the “list” … and will endeavor to do more when resources/time allows.
Nothing stops the signal…
