"Redlag"
-
Hi,
after hours of trying and frustration I decided to give it a try here.
Okay here’s my problem: After I broke my WLAN-Adapter I bought a new LAN-Cable. (Why do I mention it?
Because I have no idea whether this event is directly connected to my problem or not. I’m also unable to check
because the WLAN-Stick is broken.)
Since then I was not able to create new chars without getting red-lag kicked after I undock.
I also noticed some of my older characters are getting kicked too, not often only sometimes. It really annoys me.
Some examples when the “bug” pops up:
I’m doing a mission and reach the target. I kill ~5 NPC’S -> Redlag
If i log on again everything seems to be normal.
Another example:
I’m searching for a player to hunt him down, but for no reason the redlag pops up again.
When I try to log on with this character it has redlag again until I log on next day.
I hope some of you are able to help me.Greetings.
(If you notice anything odd about my english it’s probably because I’m a pupil and english is not
my “mother language” ) -
I’m really not sure if the problem is in FL or your Internet connection. You should try to ping the server using the IP displayed in Freelancer (Like when you’re connecting to a server) in the Windows command prompt window (usage: ping IP) or if you’re using Linux in your Terminal etc.
If the ping is like 230 or more milliseconds, say hello to the redlag monster coming to eat you!!!
You can also try disabling your firewalls, protections, etc.

Eh…you might could try to find some thing in the router connection protocoll? Or Windows network log?
-
Hmm. Then it could only be that your computer or Freelancer itself is slowing the process. (Probably FL)
Though the redlag monster visits me frequently too, this sort of visits last only for a second or two.
Maybe it’s a matter on the server. -

I’ll check my router logs, but where do I find the Windows log?
Maybe it’s a matter on the server.
Redlag-Kick happens on almost every server
It has to be my PC, I’ll try something with FL. Will post it here as soon as I get results.
Ty for the help so far. -
Maybe try to scan your pc for virus, spyware and more of that stuff.
Not sure now if you use a router, but try it without the router, and check than the direct connection to a server.
And sometimes a modem reset helps to. -

I too am experiencing this problem, on several servers. Among the affected servers are the Hamburg Vanilla server, the 88 Flak server and the BSG server.
It ONLY happens in some systems, after creating a character and jumping/undocking to those systems. For example:
On 88 Flak, create a character. Go to any of the house homes (new Londer, New York, etc.) and it redlags. BUT, I can go to a backwater like “Unknown” start and it’s fine. However, if I come back the next day, it’s also fine.
I’m not sure about the Hamburg server, as I never bothered with that again. The BSG server I just started today, so I can’t tell you yet.
However, it’s a VERY strange “redlag”. I can SEE everything happening. I can read the chat, I can see people fighting, I even get the “FTL Available” on BSG. But I can’t intereact. I shoot something, nothing happens. No chat or commands works. I can’t dock. I can just fly around while my ship, server-side, sits where I undocked at
Any suggestions?
