Gametap - Freelancer

 Tex here im a admin on the North Quadrant Server.Just wanted to make sure you guys knew that Freelancer is the number 1 played/downloaded game on Gametap.I subscribed to the service myself just to check the possibility of adding a mod or the global list workaround to the gametap version of freelancer.Sadly gametaps current encryption doesnt allow the use of mods.I contacted a member of their tech support staff about the possibility of adding mod/multiplayer support so the players on gametap can enjoy the full game.I recieved this reply:

Hi Tex,

I’m a Freelancer fan myself so I know where you’re coming from. Unfortunately we have to provide the game as the publisher delivered it, some times this means we cannot even include community patches for bug fixes. To make matters worse our current encryption scheme for the games prevents users from modding games.

There is some good news however. We are working on a new encryption scheme at this very moment that would allow for user mods, patches, access to save games, etc. I don’t have an ETA but by the end of summer is a good estimate.
