Blinking "A" at bottom right corner (chat box)
-
Hello,
I’m new to this forum and been playing Freelancer
for a while now.I hope to get some help with my strange problem
with Freelancer.Recently I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
on my server and 2 PCs and played Freelancer
vanilla version in LAN.For this I had to disable IPv6 in Windows 7 as
the IP-address was not in IPv4. (Please confirm
if this is really necessary or only my problem.)Now I can play Freelancer properly in LAN but
I have the following strange problem. When opening the chat box with “return” key
I see an “A” in a circle flashing grey and green
at the bottom right corner of the chat box. This “A” was not there in WinXP. The manual
doesn’t say anything about it. Unfortunately I uninstalled
FLServer and therefore can’t make a screenshot anymore.Another odd behaviour is that I can’t move the cursor in the
chat box to left, which I could do in WinXP.I hope you have a solution to this problem.
All versions of Freelancer (vanilla) are patched to 1.1.

I have seen this “A”…
never really took any notice until now though (lolz)stumped as to what i could be… but i dare say its a harmless “A” & has nothing to do with the cursor… i may be wrong though…
Intrigued at its overall existence really

Have you tried in compatibilty & admin mode?

Thank you for the quick replies.
I keep it running that way with the “A”.
So far I haven’t tried the admin or compatibility mode
as I already uninstalled FLServer.I will play Freelancer single player (+ nice story) once again,
perhaps there will be more bonusesRegarding the IPv6 thing:
Is it really necessary to disable it in Windows 7
or is there another workaround?I tried to quick connect to my server using the -s<ip>: <port>command line after freelancer.exe but it didn’t change
the IP format. So far I thank you for your help.</port></ip>

If you are going to play the SP again be sure to check out Adoxa’s single player console application:
http://the-starport.net/freelancer/forum/viewtopic.php?topic_id=2457&forum=6I haven’t tried out by myself but I read great replies about it.
