Streamining audio

I believe that was handled by an external app linked to/ran from the server itself… dam, its been a few years since anyone i know has done that.
I think the big hurdle you’ll face (other than copyright… which we wont address…) is bandwidth vs sound quality… my thoughts would be for the client to already have the music as part of the mod and a hook triggering the “playlist” so to speak… this could be used for events and the like…
Not exactly what you seek… but an idea i thought i’d add to the pot anyways

I think Xarian’s hit the nail on the head. It’d be a cool feature, sure, but you’d have big bandwidth issues. WIthin the limited environment of a FL server, I’m not sure wasting bandwidth on a music streaming service would be worthwhile.
An alternative would be to host the music on a separate server and have the FL server trigger the client streaming the proper track (say a good old HTTP server with a bunch of tracks in a folder).
Then obviously you have the issue of copyright, which could be problematic if your music choice isn’t cherry-picked. Remember that the license you get when you purchase tracks normally does not cover diffusion.

@FriendlyFire see thats what i was thinking
basicly you send the client the address and port
of the radio station it plays that staion simple
im going to look into it see what i can find
see if i can find a stremer client and intergrate it with fl
that way everyone is tuning into it
there loads to chose from but this way you can set the staion
for that day and change it when ever you want
some of the servers ive been on have there own station advertising there mod and stuff also running anouncements on eventsoh might i add you can have say like starport radio like a comunity radio station just a idea for now
going to have a look to see if there a SHOUTcast client source or thatill add a link maby wee can use some thing like this

TeamSpeak’s audio codecs aren’t built for music, they’re built to transport voice at the lowest bandwidth cost possible, so long as it’s intelligible.
SHOUTcast or Icecast are definite options, just remember to ensure that whatever format you’ll be using for the music is supported by the player base (Vorbis might not be a good idea unless you bundle the codec). The disadvantage with both of those, though, is that you can still have connections from people not playing on the server.
