JFLP Problems
-
Hi,
I’ve been trying to get Freelancer working in 1920x1080, with JFLP. Most of it works, but I have noticed that the game crashes upon trying to enter the save-screen sometimes. This seems to happen after I’ve changed from windowed to fullscreen mode, Alt-Tabbed out of the game and back, or when I’m trying to use Hudshift.
Another (possibly unrelated) thing I have noticed, is that the version number in the main menu remains the same after applying the official patch.
I’ve tried applying the patches to a clean install, but the problem persists. I’m running Freelancer on Windows 7 x64, with a NVIDIA Geforce GTX560.
Thanks in advance.

well before you use JFLP and Hudshift apply the official patch first.
Second in the libraries section of dacaom.ini make sure that you have JFLP load before Hudshift and append “nofovx” to it so it reads:
jflp.dll nofovx HudShift.dll
That’s how I got them together nicely.
As to the crash issues your having, always operate in full screen and don’t alt-tab out. It’s a bit of a pain in the donkey but afaik there is no solution to that issue

Yeah, that’s always been an irritation to me as well. I’m routinely alt-tabbing in and out of the game as I admin the server while also doing non-FL related stuff. Many times the display is so altered (no panels, no drop-downs, etc.) that I have to close the game and restart it in order to get proper function back. I’m not sure if it’s HUDShift that’s doing it or not but I think it started about the time I applied HUDShift.

Isn’t it Robo although I started putting stuff off to other devices where I can pretty sad when your testing features on your mod and your notes are going on an ipod lol.
Oh and Hellsrespawn I forgot to mention that none of these patches change the version number since they’re designed to augment the original vanilla fl

Haven’t played full-screen for a while, but I routinely switch back and forth in windowed mode without problems. Admittedly, I don’t run for very long, as it’s usually only within the debugger testing a plugin…
I doubt HUD Shift would cause problems, but you never know. A crash offset would be helpful.

Well, I’d provide a crash offset if there were a crash but the issue is only that the HUD elements appear offscreen often after alt-tabbing.
I’ll try adding the nofovx option to see if that helps.

OIC. Hm, do you have any particular windows open? There was an earlier problem with having the Nav Map open and Alt-Tabbing, so perhaps something similar is happening. Does Alt-Enter help, or changing to another resolution and back? Perhaps just using windowed mode might help, too (include -w in the shortcut).
