Which Mods/Patches for Extending FL SP Gameplay on Modern Hardware?

What’s the story here then Helloween. You place only the d3d8.dll (converter) from enb in the exe? Then drop the files for this tool into the exe?
What’s your opinion on it? Better than enb? Does it double the overhead by running this and enb together?

For those low-end computer, what kind of setting will be better?

Minimum AA, Minimum HDR, Minimum Sharpen without HQ Sharpen…
But better not to use this at low-end graphics cards - it may broke something. For middle-end graphics cards this fits for taking screensots only - for example for pretty presentations of your mod screenshots somewhere (better here!) at inet

Hey.
I’m another Freelancer noob reporting in. My own question is very similar to the one asked by OP in this thread, so I decided to post here instead of opening a new thread. If that’s against etiquette here, my apologies.
My question:
Since I’m completely new to Freelancer, I want to play through the vanilla story line, while, if possible, also update the game to a more modern standards.
At the moment, Crossfire 1.9 is the highest-rated mod on moddb, so I thought about installing that for my first playthrough. Does anyone know if the original storyline of Freelancer is preserved in Crossfire?
Alternatively, if I should not install Crossfire for my first playthrough, can anyone recommend another mod, e.g. one that preserves the original story but for example updates graphics/enemy AI or streamlines the interface? You know, smaller but essential mods that improve game play without being a total conversion?
I’m sorry if those question are sort of clueless, but I tried answering them myself by going on moddb, but couldn’t really get a good idea what I should install for my first playthrough…
Finally, can somebody give me an idea what to expect of the multiplayer of Freelancer? Is it better than SP? Are there still active players? What do I need to install to get going?

…Nice one.
TY 4 sharing.

@oda.krell: You should make your own thread instead of trying to hijack an existing and entirely unrelated one.
-
@HunterKiller: Thanks for another great tip!
@FriendlyFire: Actually, oda.krell’s post seems pretty related to my original post. As a noob, I have absolutely no idea what the posts after HunterKiller’s are talking about. I would love to know the answers to his questions as well.
Edit: Ok, so reading Helloween’s posts again, I guess it’s a way to improve the graphics on modern GPU’s? But what’s this ENBSeries that he is talking about?
And one last addition: What is the general consensus on Jared’s FL Patch? Is that considered a must-have now? If so, do I install it with Crossfire or FlyByU’s?

General rule of thumb, if you install a mod, don’t install any patches, the mod will include all that you need. You also run the risk of writing over modded files and breaking the mod.
As for enb series. Freelancer is an old dx8 game, enb can be used to apply some dx9 effects like bloom and colour correction. Most modern mods include a version of it.
