    Download Freeworlds: Tides of War - Demo and Install it
    Patch it to Update 4
    Copy and paste the Launcher.exe from FW TOW (located in /EXE/launcher.exe) to Vanilla Freelancer BIN folder
    Copy and paste the Hook DLL files from FW TOW (located in /EXE/fw_tow_chook.dll) to Vanilla Freelancer BIN folder
    Put the DLL name (fw_tow_chook.dll) on dacom.ini
    Copy and paste this folder /DATA/shaders in FW TOW to Vanilla
    Put mods that include Lighting mods like “FL Weapons Light mod v1” or you can do it yourself as Dynamic Lighting limit is now gone.
    Open launcher.exe, set it up at your own wish and play 🙂
    Due to FW TOW HOOK disabling SinglePlayer, you may need to start flserver and join your local server

    Do not enable distortion, it will make everything black.

    The hook from our demo WILL NOT WORK properly with vanilla FL. It is not a finished product, it is incomplete and rather unoptimized. As such, it was never meant to work without the demo. We will be releasing a vanilla upgrade once we’re finished, but we’re not there yet. We will not support any attempts to extract our DX9 improvements from any WIP version of FW:TOW, and take a somewhat negative view of such attempts. Be patient, it’s coming.

    Yeah, I know there’s wont be any support for the hook other than FW TOW itself until you released the vanilla ones, I just can’t wait for the unlimited dynamic light to play with rather than playing with limited vanilla lights 😛 (as the FW TOW demo server itself is down, I can’t play with those fancy lights.) and that’s why I post it on the Spam Board.

    And a Question, if there is 2 suns on a system, will be there 2 shadows?

    Maybe.

    All we need to do for fully working DX9 hook for vanilla is Wait :P. I wonder if anyone gonna make mipmaps for vanilla.

    Better research alternative huds for fl (ex http://sourceforge.net/projects/crayzedsgui/?source=directory), graphics is not so intresting

    This should never really have been talked about as an upgrade for freelancer I fancy, it should have been talked about as is, the FW:TOW mod.

    FW:TOW is going to be a great mod to play without a doubt and I’m much looking forward to it, but I doubt there’s ever likely to be any other large scale freelancer mods made with this upgrade so it will be a last hurrah before Elite is out, and star citizen will likely see freelancer consigned to the history books for good soon after that.

    I don’t say this in a snide manner, I really think they wanted to have this mod out the door “a long time ago” 😉 and then things would be different, but hardly anything ever goes to plan in the mod world. I think this is going to be like Black Mesa, way overdue, but well worth the wait!
