Where's the Rheinland Military?

I’m playing the retail Freelancer single-player campaign and I’m in the middle of trying to ruin my reputation with all the police, navy and the Rheinland Military just for fun. I’m presently interested in ruining my rep with the Rheinland Military in a very fast way by just killing them directly, but so far I’ve been through all of Rheinland space and I haven’t seen even one Military fighter. Is this normal? Do they exist after the story mode? If so, then where are they?

Yeah, I guess I’d have to hang out around there a little more. I tried a few times but no one showed up.

I ended up discovering that they really hate it if you work for the Bundschuh. I wanted the Sunslayer Torpedo Launcher and so I decided to work for them to become friendly enough for that. In doing so, I noticed my reputation with the Rheinland Military went toward the top of the hostile list very very very fast.

I know and I did, but nothing happened. I used the trade lane to do this many times. I sat there with a steady stream of shots for a good 2 minutes each time. lol

I could pretend that they were just afraid to come help defend the battleship because they know I’ll destroy them in seconds. “Come get some!”
