Freeworlds has just release its very own auto-updater! Here is how to install and enjoy. Note, you must download the 18.31 FWs mod before to play or use this auto-updater
Mini-Guide for the Freeworlds Auto UpdaterThe Freeworlds Auto Updater was created by Viper for the purpose of introducing changes to the Freeworlds mod without requiring the release of a new mod to be activated through the Freelancer Mod Manager. This updater is very beneficial for small changes because it can allow for new coding/files to be introduced into the mod easily and on the spot.
The updater is simple to use since it is an executable which checks for files to update and then shortly thereafter launches the Freeworlds game. Simply click on the Auto Updater executable each time you boot up the game to receive the benefits.
HOW TO INSTALL:
Download the Auto Updater and place anywhere. Double click to begin installation.
Install the auto updater in your main Freelancer folder (the one which contains the DATA, DLLS, and EXE folders). Your Freelancer folder may be located somewhere like this: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
You are now ready to use the Auto Updater. Simply double click the Auto Updater (updater.exe) to quickly receive updates. The Auto Updater immediately starts up the game after it finishes.
You can optionally create a shortcut of the Auto Updater and place it on your Desktop.

Lancer Solurus’ autoupdater is made freely available for all servers to use…

And LS has many methods which I won’t detail here (not wanting to reveal the secrets) making it just about impossible to boot the game without launching it through the autoupdater.
-
Not quite sure if the developer of the auto-updater wants to. But I’ll definitely ask him as other mods can profit from this type of thing
Also:
This is the newest development video of FW 2.0. This showcases two new systems and a smarter AI using Foxunit 01s awesome AI.db and tweaks I did to the NPC pilot population. -
possibly a different texture used? lol
-
Isn’t that the ALE used within Tekagi’s Arch?

FF got it. Here’s the code I use for it:
[Zone]
nickname = [Insert name of nebula here]
ids_name = 0
pos = 0, 0, 0
shape = ELLIPSOID
size = 120000, 600000, 400000
property_flags = 32768
property_fog_color = 20, 10, 70
interference = 10.0
spacedust = outer_sanctum_lightning<–-this gives you the lightning
spacedust_maxparticles = 50
visit = 128 -
I have to say I wouldn’t have thought putting it as spacedust… Clever

Ya, I found some really neat FX that I’ve started using for atmosphere and such. I can put the code of all the decoded FX I use if people are interested. Thanks for the kuddos ;D

Thanks Gibbon. I also love your work as well on the BSG Mod. It looks phenomenal! And ya, never understood why suns were 1k-2k…lol.
