I finally got the Original Game Soundtrack on CD!!
-
It’s not that easy to find; I got this one from a seller in Lithuania, via Discogs. There is a bonus DVD included as well!
Unfortunately I just noticed it like 30 minutes before I have to go to work. (It had arrived yesterday but I am having a couple of midday/evening shifts, so I hadn’t spoken to the wife and kids). A silent surprise lying in the living room
-
Had it for many years. Uploaded to piratebay way back in 2008. Probably nobody left to seed it these days though, but oh well, at least people who were looking for got it.
-
Could you encode it to flac and upload it somewhere? That would be really cool. If you could use the program “exact audio copy” for making an accurate copy of each track this would be really nice.
I guess since you can’t buy it anymore no one cares if you copy it.
-
I indeed have and use EAC, but I’ve set it to encode to MP3, and afaik you have to pick either one (FLAC or MP3) on install. So, I don’t think I can switch (I’m not at home atm so I cannot take a look)
I could maybe simply share the raw .WAV files?
-
Yeah, that would also work, although it is probably about double the size. So you’d have to upload twice as much. You still should be able to encode the wav files to flac, though. There are also other programs which can do that.
-
Haha ! I saw this too but didn’t purchase. Glad to see you have it in your collection ! But, sorry, the sound quality is the same as the wav files that you find on mod db, so it’s better to DL it on this platform (I recently found the audio on my external HDD, I compared the CD and the mod). Despite that, the DVD is a nice buy, have a good time watching it ;).
FLAC is a narrow free way to quality, take it and you will not be deceived. Foobar2000 is your guide to rip CD use it widely…

Oh, I was hoping they were sounding better. Seems not to be the case

Foobar2000 is your guide to rip CD use it widely…Thanks for the tip but for my own purposes I am quite content with MP3 (VBR, high quality with EAC). I don’t think the mp3players that I use process FLACs, and even they would I could put less on it. And I can’t tell (or, don’t mind) any difference in quality between MP3-VBR and FLAC anyway.
-
I suppose Freestalker is referring to these files. Since they are cut out from the soundtrack so that the loops fit the it would be nice to have the original files if that is not too much to ask
-
If you upload it, I will slap you and I will eat your ears. XD
Jokes appart, you can upload it as you wish. I am not opposed to that.
For me, I have the FLAC version so I will surely do an upload (if my external HDD isn’t dead… (._.) ). I let you upload the MP3 VBR version, it is a nice encoding method so it’s not bad.
But there is something that I would like to know. Is the rip I downloaded the same as the CD, has it been modified or untouched ? =_=

I might upload the uncompressed .WAV files, in a few .zip or .7z archives., if that is small enough to pass a possible size limit. But not now; I’m at work.
-
Btw I have been playing the ambient tracks of the various houses / spaces (Liberty, Kusari, Independent, Tau, Omega etc.) for years, in a compilation with spacy ambient. I looped every file three times, so it was like 4:30-5:00 per track (I only used the ambient, not the ‘danger’ and ‘combat’ sequences.) On the CD there are suites for each house/space; the ‘danger’ and ‘combat’ sequences are included too these as well. For personal use I think I will edit some ambient-only versions as well. If these work out well, I might upload them too.
-
I just noticed that I cannot upload files with a size exceeding 1000k, so I had to make my own website. The .7z archives can be found over there.
@W0dk4, FriendlyFire & other admins/mods: feel free to copy the files to over here.
-
You should be able to upload the archives directly here: http://the-starport.net/freelancer/download/submit.php?cid=6
I’d appreciate if you tried and let me know whether that part of the site even functions anymore. It’ll also let me approve the downloads.
EDIT: Also, all three download links appear to be broken on your site.
-
Thanks for uploading! You mixed up the extensions, though. If you change them to .7z the downloads work

It was a hasty job after quite an exhausting late shift at the asylum And I used an older webpage I once made as a template, which featured .zip files.
Anyways: fixed it.

It doesn’t seem to work, FF. I got a blank screen (with some mozilla-generated error messages in it)* just when I tried to upload one of the files in a post in this thread.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Indeed I forgot, on the download page that I put up, to correct the file extension from .zip to .7z; that is fixed now

!! NOTICE !!
I just discovered that the tracklist on EAC’s online database was not entirely accurate: the Kusari and Rheinland suites were confused. I’ve corrected this and reuploaded the .7z archive, but if you downloaded it already, you might want to correct the filenames.
-
Erm… I just forgot to mention that… I hoped that was just the people which uploaded that switched the names. That wasn’t the case.
I’m listening the musics and that’s better, not because of encoding or better master, just because my headphone was badly equalized… My HP lacks of a certain amount of frequencies around 6 or 7 kHz resulting in a not so defined sound. It made a long time I better equalized. I really suspect that low quality vanilla FL musics boost trebles to compensate the lack of treble extension, but that’s just a supposition.
I would like to thank you to have created your own website from scratch where we can DL these files. Despite the fact it’s simple, it’s so useful and secured.

Thanks for uploading those. I knew them only from a Youtube Video that had them all merged into one long soundtrack-video.
I also still have some other Freelancer Soundtrack on my PC. Certainly it contains tracks from yours, just cut into several single titles. But it also contains Bar Music, which is missing in your version. This Bar Music however is in better quality than FL’s, and so it must be also from some “more original” source.
I think J.R. sent it to me once.
Download: Freelancer SoundtrackAnd since we are at this, Syd once also sent me very early music of the game.
