Well, I couldn’t beat him my first few tries either. In the end I had to leave the plot line for a while I flew around and made enough money to by a ship more appropriate to the mission. Then come back and beat the snot out of him. Had to do that a couple of times with various missions. that’s one of the nice things about the way FL plays in SP. You can always ditch the plot line for a while to do your own thing.

I like the brown version of the “ship” or metal parts. But not so much on the asteroid. Keep the brown ship and switch to the grey rock for a little added contrast to make it “pop”.
cool model tho.

rockin. Thanks Gibbon

Just curious. In FL I enjoy flying through debris fields blowing up junk and collecting cargo. It was just pointless to try and make any decent money doing so. When moding, is there a way to up the percentage of cargo payout in a debris field. It was just really frustrating when you go out to collect some goods and you end up using some munitions and your trip ended up costing instead of earning.

That’s looks pretty cool.

It’s a shot in the dark now. I think you may be right that your router is not functioning correctly. Have run the Microsoft 1.1 FLServer patch?
-
I am not seeing your server listed in the GSL.
-
When I am at home and I launch MP, even though my server is available over the internet, the Global Server List displays my LAN IP.
What is the name of your server?
-
when you start the server, did you check the radio button to make the server internet available?

Thanks fellas. After a couple of days of experimenting and setting the right versions of the sw I was able to get cloaks working. It’s pretty damn cool.

Gibbon was kind enough to let me run a private server for my friends using the Phoenix mod. I don’t know if he wold let me take it public. But my friends and I are having a great time playing Phoenix MP.

yup, it was the 1.5.5 version. got the new version installed and now it’s working like a champ. Thanks
-
nope. I didn’t miss it. I went back through the flhook readme.txt and (in the version I have at least) their was no plugin section.
oh well. Now I know. Thanks.

You da man w0dk4. I must have missed or overlooked this section. Thanks.

Forgive me for what may be noobish questions.
First, a bit of background. I am an IT manager, I have a degree in computer animation, I have done some basic programing when I was in school years ago. Now I do mostly basic scripting, but my work is more along the lines of troubleshooting and keeping things running smoothly. Typically I can feel my way though most programing.
Here is my issue. Most of the time I can read through documentation and tutorials and then take the info and use it to my will. My problem with FLHook has been finding any documentation to read through. The info in the ini and readme do a fair amount of assuming a degree of familiarity I don’t have.
For instance, I have been experimenting with the cloak FLHook plugin last night. But, I am having to guess at where the files go and infer that code be added here or there. Is there documentation somewhere on adding plugins to FLHook.

alex was recommending DAM over Ioncross. Yeah, I agree, setting up a SQL server for a game running a few friends would be way overkill. But, who knows, at some point we may want to open the server up to the public. So, I may want to explore that avenue in the future. I kinda like what Xarian said about try them all. So I downloaded DS Acount Manager last night and was reading through the documentation. Looks nice. I am looking forward to trying it out and seeing how I like it personally.
I still don’t know how cloaks work in FL. Or if they are compatible with Phoenix. I tried using Ioncross to edit a test character file with a cloak. Game seemed to run fine, but it wasn’t listed in the equipment load-out, or in the cargo bay. If there is a command (or a plug-in that is needed) to activate the cloak using FLHook, I don’t know what it is.
oh yeah, and to clarify, I an not playing in SP. So, I am interested in how cloaks work in MP.
thanks for all the feedback guys.

ok Alex, I’ll bite. I’ll give DAM a try. Only, after an hour of searching and following links, I can’t find it to download. You have a link?
-
hmmm… Gibbon has been kind enough to let me run my own Phoenix server for my friends. I am running Ioncross and FLHook. In Ioncross, under the player edit fields I have seen the cloaks. They intrigue me. I am fairly new to moded FL, and really new to running a server. Are the cloaks compatible with the Phoenix mod? If so, how do you use them?

I went an d checked out the threads on flak. I also downloaded the two utilities and thought I might give them a whirl. Now I just need to pull out that old FlightStick from storage and do some experiments.
-
thanks Fox. I’ll go check out the flak forum for more info on using a joystick with FL.
I particularly am looking for the ability to roll. It seemed to me when I loaded up the flak mod the mouse control became crazy sensitive and everything moved at an accelerated speed. I could be wrong. It was three or four months ago when I tried it out.
