Heheā¦ HL2ā¦ some of my favorite moments in my 32yrs of gamingā¦ (wellā¦ 26ā¦) are found in the final stages of that game, the newest SMOD is a work of art, easily letting you create skirmishes of your own that are NEVER the same stage twice (the version that uses CS modes).
Its all one great cashcow now š there are only really a handfull of companies left that still (appear to) care more for the game than the overall end $ figure projectionā¦ wich they sayā¦ is crucial to financing development of any other gameā¦ or the next game. The ābigā guys are now almost goneā¦ as stated mr roberts wont be coming back, Romeroās making too much $ on phone appsā¦ and carmackās safely hidden away inside a rocket somewhereā¦ Gabe is aroundā¦ but heās busy making the next ābig thingā on steamā¦ and his whole world is HL/STEAM, The other guys like (sir)Garriot & Mollunux (think thatās how its spelt) are still in love with Gods/Wizards and generalā¦ point and clickā¦
I can go onā¦ but the crux of it isā¦ thereās simply no-one left to do it like they used to. Freelancer can possibly be heralded as an end of an eraā¦ with the X type space sim taking firm hold just after, and now EVE pulling massive numbers in, everyone wantās in on the MMO scene tooā¦
As was stated in a previous post GE has the torch now, though still very basicā¦ itās written by one that knows what it is to be a space sim fan, and has a love for Freelancer possibly greater than myselfā¦ that gives me hope for the continuation of the ā¦ dare i sayā¦ lancer bloodline
