One thing I’ve noticed is that the font used by the WSUS offline updater is also very badly rendered even in the monitor’s native resolution (see attached image).

I wonder if this has any linkages to the fact that Freelancer has a rendering problem with the particular font in the screenshots.

[ EDIT: Well, Jesusalmighty, it wasn’t even Freelancer-related at all, It turns out a recent update corrupts fonts. Thanks, Microsoft.

Argh, works fine for me. I tested with TtMK, which is where I discovered the “different version” message. If you’re able to generate MD5, can you verify we are using the same versions:

I took a fresh look the script and this is what I found
encounter = encounter = area_assault, 5, 0.300000
that was the problem.

And that fixed it!! Thanks so much for the help.

Shortly after posting this I found a post in another forum that had a solution that actually worked. I downloaded and did an over the top installation of the latest Windows XP graphics drivers for this chipset (G33) and it actually worked.

I would suggest stickying this thread, it seems to be a very common problem with Intel graphics and Windows Vista/7 systems. For some reason Freelancer just doesn’t like the Windows Vista/7 drivers.

im not sure if you can buy ID’s in single player. your tractor beam is part of the ID item in your cargo hold, make sure you have one equiped or you wont have a tractor beam.

when you sell your ship it unmounts the ID and sells it, so when you buy a new ship you have to buy a new ID too

If you don’t want to run it on your main OS:
Why do you need a disk?

Just copy the content of the disk or install it somewhere else and copy the installed files.

could this be because it said “graphics card not supported” on very first startup?
i could not find my card in the flconfigdatabase.txt so i could not see if it had “ForceSquareTextures” applied to it (someone i forgot where wrote that deleting that line can help).

edit: okay, it seems to not appear when iZ3D driver is deactivated.
i get that iZ3D driver injects into D3D9.dll but i cannot find any evidence of freelancer using a custom D3D9.dll or anything.

You want 1.31 specifically?
Which FLMM version are you looking for? There’s a 2.0 version also that’s not compatible with a lot of older mods but works very well with scripted mods provided the scripting is written for this version of FLMM.

We’re using FLMM 2.0 (adoxa) for our mod on FLU.

Are you using AMD’s Game Booster? This might be the reason I don’t have such a problem with my R9 280.
Also it may be because I’m using Win 8.1.
Try this game booster, and if you already have it then disable it and then try.
