    I have tested and you have entirely reason! it’s daylight robbery! No! it’s awesome, it implies that Freelancer engine and texture filter are really better than video upscales! Now I can reduce the number of pixels! I can’t believe my eyes! But I believe uniquely what I see.

    THX to have advised me of that! I will give you a credit in the next release.

    I was the one who has build the starspheres. They are not vanilla ones, they are not what was released with Freelancer and they do look different than vanilla starspheres. It is not possible to simply raise the resolution of something and expect that it looks better… it is required to invest alot more work to rebuild something (in order to keep the original style of the system) in a more detailed way.
    But still that is not vanilla stuff.

    Ill show you what you get when you just change the resolution of something…

    and change its resolution with the result of getting this:

    Is that better? Is it an improvement? You can not simply change the resolution of something and expect that suddenly details appear that where not there before. That is just impossible. And just because we tried to keep the original style of the systems it does not mean that we are using vanilla stuff.

    Thanks Glisteron, I intend to release something more along the lines of a full trailer in the coming days but I want to wait until we have some decent footage to work with. This was literally just me being stuck for direction so I went a little sideways lol.

    On another note I can tell you guys alot of the initial release details for Requiem.

    Setting :
    Requiem is set 3 years after the end of the Nomad Conflict, peace reigns between the houses but the vortex that swallowed the Nomads has begun to show that it has had some unexpected long term effects, new random wormholes have started appearing through out the Sirius sector. One of the first of these opened a gateway to Coalition held Territory. Despite the fact the Coalition drove the Allliance from Earth and her immediate area 800+ years ago they have never found peace and as such are a force to be reckoned with (or run from).

    Features :

    Autoupdate: I think we all know what that is 😄
    Dynamic Economy: Again something familiar
    New Service (beta): text-based system that keeps you updated on major developments throughout the game
    Player developed systems: when an unowned system is discovered Clans (or really rich players) can purchase and develop systems (including building their own factions).
    AI wingmen: Assuming I can get permission from foxUnit01 (note send him a msg today lol)
    Enhanced graphics: Every base, planet, ship and starscape from vanilla will see a retexture to refine the vanilla look.
    8 way strafe: courtesy of Adoxa to provide enhanced ship control yet still keep the vanilla feel.
    Speed boost:Thrusters and Cruise are getting a small speed bump, cruise will top out at around 360 now.

    Concepts in Development

    Heavy Freighters:
    I have no intention of bringing Capital Ships to players (when was the last time you heard of a military selling an aircraft carrier to Joe Someone no matter how much they liked him). Heavy Freighters will be the next best thing though. Unmodified they can haul alot of freight. Although the modified version doesn’t haul much cargo it does have several advantages. First is Fighters will be able to dock with these More armor and firepower at it’s disposal as well as being the only ships large enough to have, yet small enough to use FTL Drive (see below for details). One run in with a modified heavy freighter will definitely make a pirate scan his next victim 😄

    FTL Drive: the technology is nearly 1000 years old but seldom used due to it’s unstable and inefficient nature. Now it’s back in use on some modified Heavy Freighters. Even with it’s own sealed power systems this system takes nearly 4 hours to recharge after use make it’s usefulness limited to the average trader but Clans and some more violent players will find use for rapid transport to (or sometimes more importantly from) a conflict anywhere in the know worlds

    Hi there Killer and Skye, although it’s over a year since I stopped working on the mod I feel it’s necessary to comment on some points raised here.

    The Antares mod apart from the concept of being set after a second Nomad war has very little in common with the Ha 2 mod (which I played and enjoyed).

    They do share a number of ship types but the ships are the intelectual property of the original shipwrights and as far as I’m aware the permission for use was asked for and granted whereever possible (after all this time some shipwrights are impossible to contact).

    Like the equipment the ship were rebalanced with shiparch edits (revised hold sizes, additional thrusters etc) and in some cases revised hardpoints.

    Apart from original game systems the mod was built with completely new systems and the universe structure was very different to the Ha2 mod.

    The game economy was completely new and built to match earnings with the mission payouts and sometimes exceed them with some very challenging commodities and trade routes (refugees via the Zeta’s anyone? :-o)

    The may be common weapon types but all the weapons have been rebalanced several times so in reality they share the same name and very little else.

    The same applies for the engines and powerplants as the range of both was expanded significantly and went through several rebalancing exercises.

    I had a look at some backup files myself and the Ha2 mod had been renamed Aurora (Sept 06) not Antares, anyway time to move on as sadly Freelancer has a very limited player count these days although I’d struggle to find a space/combat/trading game that I’ve enjoyed anywhere near as much.

    Well, we managed to get a hold of the talents of someone great for modelling, and now we’re looking for something a bit different, and not straight up freelancer relevant!

    We need a graphic artist, someone who can design logos for the various factions, as well as various other important things such as the mod logo.

    Basically, logos!

    We’ll be asking about in various places, but on the off chance there’s someone hanging about here with the skills and would like to help out, give us a shout!
