Not an issue Arvis, my offer still stands once i release Galacticum. The Solar System mod i posted in this thread will at least get you up and running although i do suggest you make some new sur files for the planets that use them. I think earth has one that def needs redoing. Lancers sur builder will cure any problems for planet surs, makes magnificent ones.

OK, i’m going to be making the call again for anyone interested in joining Dark Rain. We are interested in recruiting anyone who is willing to give this a go and work in a group. The main skill we need at the moment are texturers, we have a whole heap of models ready for texturing with no one who knows how. thats right, of course no one will ever reach anywhere near that amount, the servers aren’t meant for high data transfer, its a web server after all. those disk spaces are also maxes, the account starts offer with smaller amounts and is increased as needed

U and about 20-30 other’s that do the same… seriously… if you ain’t gonna use em… hand them out to those that will instead of them being forgotten under a pile of “i’ll get back to it” …

Reasons are ye own… i respect that… but it pains me to see any resource that may better the community being hoarded for the sake of… well… hoarding really… whats done after release is irrelevant, always will there be at least 1 mod (maybe more) that wont fit your original design for set model or asset… but that’s the good thing about modding… everyone’s different.

This is not the time to be picky as too what gets used where… If FL is to survive amongst the newer games… we must all adapt a open policy concerning anything new… Its all good… and for the greater glory of our favorite game… or at least that’s how i see it… this old school “mine” mentality gets us all nowhere.

There are two types of computer vulnerabilities to consider when setting up a server: remote attacks and humans with access. By limiting who has physical and digital access to your server, you can reduce the risk of a human with access causing a security issue. Also, by not using the computer for regular internet browsing and ensuring files are scanned for viruses, human error is almost eliminated. A good firewall is the best way to prevent remote attacks from affecting your server. Programs, processes, and Windows services listen on open ports for all sorts of incoming connections. All an attacker has to do is know how to attack one program to make it cause undesired effects on the entire computer. Securing all of your ports by only allowing FLServer and possibly a remote desktop program to use the internet is the best way to prevent attacks.

That said, there is a vulnerability in FLServer. I have seen it prevent Windows Remote Desktop from being able to access a server while it is under attack. I am referring to the DDOS attacks. The attacker can’t make your computer run unwanted programs, but they can prevent the server from being used and make players disconnect due to lag. I have only confirmed one firewall program as being able to prevent the attacks, but I know of one other that should work. If you need a recommendation on a firewall, PM me. Discussing it in public, where the attacker can read about what we use to stop him is not a good idea.

I can’t really help you with the actual mod… But I could probably help with server administration (excludes server coding)/moderating if you want me to…
