3D Model Showroom

Texturing is a very important part of the final look of the models. A horrible texture in a stunning shape is a horrible ship.
QFT. So true!
-
im aware of texturing and such, and gun size. ive been doing this for quite some time, i just didnt frequent the boards untill recent. as for textures, aint my job, im just my team’s modeler. i do OK textures, they aint amazing, but my primary job is just making the ships.
and as for the ratio, for the most part, our mod calls for invisible weapons, and im in the process of making custom turrets for those that do require models.
-
Good to hear. Best of luck to you dude. Texturing is one of those things that takes a lot of practice. Unfortunately, I need a lot of this area too… so don’t feel bad.

From all topic some models were pleasant!
I consider that they are very well entered in Freelancer -
-
Here’s some images of a ship I just finished the other day. Haven’t converted it for Freelancer quite yet since I have about 6 or 7 other ships that will be converted along with this one (and for those of you who know where this ship is from, yes, mobile suits will be following in short order lol)
Comes in at around 9200 total polygons.
Renders are done so as to show off both the texturing and the glow mapping.

VERY nice job! hats off

Gundam 00, eh, im more of a traditionalist when it comes to gundam, but great work so far
what program are you using for the renders?
-
My friend is actually doing the renders for me in 3DS Max. I’ve tried my hand at using Kerkythea but I can never seem to get the scene set up properly. Probably just a lack of playing with it but it’s not a huge deal as long as he doesn’t mind rendering them for me.
Both of these were built in Wings 3D with a total build time (modelling and texturing) of 8 or 9 hours. My next ship will be the A-Laws Battlecruiser, which I already have modeled.
In the meantime, here is a pic of my other finished 00 ship, the Virginia-class Carrier.

Hello all i’m going to post a few IN-GAME shots of a totaly new ship of mine.
I started out with a sub looking shape and then added on the armor plating and this is what I have. This is my first model up next to a Liberty Cruiser.
Then after much reworking here it is one more along side the Battleship Missouri
And here a shot of me putting the ship into the scalfolding at Norfolk shipyard,
made it in my frist attempt and without hitting the sides or top/bottom.
And now fully inside the scafolding and ready for refit,a nd repair.
Would be interesting if you can make it were capital ships
would pull into there for docking as long as they are small enough to fit inside.

You guys wanna see a Discovery Barge?
Massive damn thing it is…
(Note I didn’t even know this thing existed until Disco 4.85 came out, don’t blame me. :P) -
It works! It finally works! With a proper fitting sur to boot!
If anyone remembers my old Liberty Gunboat model I made some time back…
Thanks to megalodonEC I finally figured out how to get the stupid thing into Milkshape. After many tears I can now fully export models from Lightwave, import them into Milkshape, CMPify them, and then create proper surs for them so that they have perfect hit boxes.
