Resolution 1280x1024 - 32

@wodk4: I see.
@Vesko: JFLP should handle that fine (1280x720/768 works, so a bigger one should work). If you’re just using the DLL and not the full patch, you will have to modify cameras.ini, changing all fovx values to 0 (that lets JFLP know to calculate them according to the ratio).
@FriendlyFire: interface.generic.vms only stores images; all the positions and sizes are hardcoded into freelancer.exe.

well the only reason i want 1280x1024 is that 1280x960 leaves black edges on the sides of the screen. so if i could get it pulled out to 1280x1024 it wont have a black edges on the side. but than when you do get that. everthing ( the hud, hull, shield status ) is out of place.
so eiter way there is a issue with getting freelancer to 1280x1024. i think in the freelancer readme file it says it supports 1280x1024. but i have never heard of anyone being able to get FL to run at that.
just something is keeping FL from being able to run at the screen size.
plusas a side note. im playing shattered worlds. and there coding that allows you to change screen size. does the same thing which is why im posting here.

1280x960 is 4:3, Freelancer supports it directly. I had no problem, once I used the monitor controls to resize and reposition. 1280x1024 is 5:4, which Freelancer will not support - you need JFLP or directly edit PerfOptions.ini. Even then, it still doesn’t like it. I’ll work on it tomorrow, but no promises.

Adoxa, I would not follow these silly wish-lists. Next it will be a demand for 1300x1100.
Wallies.

JFLP calculates the screen size and moves the HUD parts accordingly. IIRC, adoxa allowed for any resolution, up to a quad-monitor array, when he made JFLP. Sensei’s screen shots actually look quite excellent, considering that Freelancer was never designed to handle other than 4:3 aspect ratios.
The slight imperfection in Sensei’s screenshots is well within my tolerance. If adoxa makes JFLP even better than it is, then that is great… but, as you say, ST, it is unnecessary, IMHO. JFLP is awesome as it is!

Well that’s what I am saying, adoxa is offering to do more work on this just for the sake of one who doesn’t realise FL was designed when there was NO 1280x1024 nor other crappy oddball resolutions.
I prefer him and you to have time to work on our UTF Editor and the sur exporter/ sur builder, which are far more important than the one player’s daft wishes to remove a bit of black that he can remove with his own finger on his screen size button!
I mean, how far away is 1280x960 from 1280x1024?
Jeeezz!!
Where’s my ROFL button?!

right. well how come i can run battlefield 2 & other games at 1280x1024.but freelancer wont run at it with out some marjor tweaking.
now if it puts you out any. than dont worry about it. il try & the program you posted about it.
but i didnt mean to start something that would never come to a end.
not something that i wanted to happen

lolz, ST… ye a mean wabbit (PMSL)
It’s ok warlord… were just a tad protective of our favorite FL Hacker, as Adoxa stated… no promises, if he feels it’s worthy he’ll pull it outa his… erm… yeah… hat?..
Now… in a slightly related matter… What controls the font’s and there positioning/size when FL’s reading from “fonts.ini” ? altering the fixed_height = 0.0 just seems to move it up or down… im looking for the overall size as defined in “rich_fonts.ini” are they tied somehow?

Looks like the best I can do for 1280x1024 is leave WinCamera at the 4:3 value and just shift the gauges up to match their box. Since I experienced crashes (today it crashed, but yesterday I got a full-screen comm window) with the calculated WinCamera, I’ll have to at least fix that, but it can wait.
For people wanting to use 1280x1024 over 1280x960, I’d say you’re looking at it the wrong way. Don’t think of it as gaining 64 pixels in height (from 960 to 1024), but as losing 85 pixels in width (from what would be 1365 to 1280).

For example, PageHeader has a fixed_height of 0.045, I use 1024x768, so the font has a height of round(768*0.045) = 35. Some tests are made to ensure a reasonable value (well, I think so, didn’t look into it too much).

Great thanX for the plug-in. playing with it now.
the only thing i want to know is. how do you set this up. do i copy the folder to Interface folder. but one Dll file. and im guessing i have to mess with the vaules of the shift.ini to get the game to look right.
the folder that is unziped. i place it in interface folder. but move the Dll file to exe. & add the string to dacom
also i was wanting to know adoxa if i could post this over at SwwT. il link back to this thread. and give credit

Link back to the topic URL previously given, please. You might also want to visit it, as it has more complete instructions. Apart from moving the files to the right location, you will only need to remove the semicolon after one of the 5:4 headers (depends which camera you decided to use).
