High resolutions

Jason Hood, 31 May, 2009.
This patch removes the following spew warnings:
- couldnt find material 163618903
Generated when a waypoint is selected. I was unable to fix it, so now I
just remove the warning. - get_zone(N) failed
Generated when a job sector has no name, which is quite frequently. - Disconnecting equipment with FATE_UNKNOWN, using FATE_DISAPPEAR
Generated when a wreck drops its weapons. This is a bug in Freelancer.exe,
since it doesn’t detect the “fate_loot” type. - Used Hostile Pick Assistance
Not sure exactly when this is generated (or even why), but it’s something
to do with targetting enemy fighters.
2 June, 2009:
- replace the line number of the “Deform::start_aim” notice with the
timestamp of the event (in milliseconds; it also replaces the string with
“(null)”, in order to fit the new code).
26 & 27 August, 2009:
- add proper stat displays for Powerplants, Engines, Scanners, Tractor Beams
and Armor. Not used by the vanilla game, but most mods display them.
Also add a blank line after “Stats”.
7 to 9 September, 2009:
- provide widescreen support.
and 8 way strafe/roll. as im not running a plugin by that name anymore adoxa intergrated that into the updated .dll 8-)
- couldnt find material 163618903

I can’t increase my resolution past 1366x768, I’m trying to get it to 1920x1080.
I have 88 Flak, with jflp.dll, properly configured in dacom.iniStupid question, does your monitor support that resolution?
-
As I said some time ago, pals, you do one a favour and the next request is even more stupid than the last.
Give it up guys, this is an OLD game.
-
by all respect, but ST, this now is not anymore a spam message, it is a trigger. this site is here before we did not give up and so long were progressing and widescreen and high-end resolutions are really not the most tricky part of it. the game deserves it and it is able to handle it, so where’s the problem in sucking out everything that is in there?
-
This is not spam. Don’t accuse me of that again. I never spam, I prompt to get things done, to remind people of the things more of us are hoping to get completed. I sometimes do it in good humour, sometimes in sarcasm, sometimes plainly and sometimes I get very irate.
This is a response to a daft situation.
Widescreen support has already been done, I think? Did I get it wrong?
I am not referring to hacks that are useful, I am referring to time-wasting requests for stupider and stupider (as in unusual) screen resolutions that are not standard.
See my piss-take on at least 2 older threads, this is not the first.
Why not 1755x 2133 next then? Wear stronger glasses instead, or put a cardboard mask on your screen! Or change to a resolution that has already been hacked. How much is that to ask?
You accepted the BS about fixing your models instead of fixing the Sur Builder which has now consequently died.
I am still very pissed off about that.
Our hackers and modders here are better off using their limited and valuable free time to develop more useful items that more of our modders need, not wasting it to pander to individual one-off users and their daft whims for screen resolutions.
Adoxa has already “gone beyond” several times for resolutions and has covered more than is necessary.
You yourself have seen these stupid requests more than once.
Time to call the stupid requests… stupid!
What do you expect me to do, put in a smiley?
Only when I have something to smile about.

ST, you’re ranting. The guy is asking for help to make the tool work, not for any further hacking. 1920x1080 is a STANDARD resolution, one used in a LOT of cases (HDTVs anyone? laptops?). In fact I’m pretty sure others have already used it as it is a typical 16:9 resolution.
The case here is to help this guy getting it working, not bash. So please stop jumping the gun and try to help this fellow out or stay out of the damn topic.
-
Fact is that it’s always good to play at your monitors default resolution, anything else just doesn’t look great on LCD’s. Mine is a rather awkward 1900 x 1200, 16:10 ratio if anyones considering adding resolutions to a patch. I’d be grateful.
Promise I wont do a StarTrader if you tell me to piss off. Coined a new phrase there, StarTrader, the new word for flame head.
Don’t take it personally ST, just taking the micky. Now I’m going to retreat to a safe distance and await a bitch slapping from hell.

My monitor’s 1920x1200 and I just use DSAce’s -dx parameter, which automatically loads the desktop resolution. Works fine.
-
Cool it gentlemen.
Also, it’s as adoxa said it - try setting your desktop resolution first before launching the game; that should do the trick.
Frank, you’ll also need to insert fovx = 0 values into cameras.ini for JFLP to do its auto-calculation. Either steal the cameras.ini from Flak or from the JFLP zip itself.
Edit: It appears the zip doesn’t have the cameras.ini - to save you some trouble, I uploaded it here: http://www.memes.no/88flak/downloads/beta/Cameras.ini

jflp is not working for me, used the cameras file you made available aswell. Monitor is always set at native 1900 x 1200. Is it compatible with win7? I could just be a useless idiot mind, if nothing else, I’m good at that.
Could try DSAce but it’s server software isn’t it? Does that work with sp?
I’m not truly bothered, I’ve made do with using the 1:1 option on the monitor up until now, black borders are easy to ignore on a screen this big.
When all is said and done, do these workarounds actually render the game at resolutions above 1600 x 1200 or do they just stretch the image like a monitor can already do?
-
After all that, I’m not sure what’s what. Make sure you use the jflp.dll from here, not from jflp.zip (you should see 1.1.1 in the spew). It should add your current desktop resolution to the end of the resolutions list, which you should then be able to select as normal. However, I had some troubles switching res myself, so you may have to try a couple of times (with different reses) before it works. If all else fails, you should still be able to exit and do it directly in PerfOptions.ini.
The intro screen is stretched, but everything else should work fine. The HUD items are at the same relative position as 4:3; use HUD Shift if you want them back at the screen edges.
-
I don’t want to point out the obvious but you did change the values in PerfOptions.ini didn’t you? it’s not just plugging in the .dll and away you go. If you didn’t go to My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\PerfOptions.ini and at the bottom is a display section with your resolution in it.
Wow you made a hud shifter adoxa, damn i wonder what else i’ve missed better check your site for more goodies

Yes they do is the simple answer. I run mine in 1680x1050 and it looks very nice indeed and everything is where it’s supposed to be.
