Animation Problem - Invisible Parts
-
Well, I’m using UTF version 2.0.0.2., didn’t know that 3.0 was out.
I thought it might have been something to do with textures, but since the radar dishes are using a texture that’s also used by visible parts of the model I don’t think it’s that. The only thing I can think of that would have changed the dishes directly is taking them out of the Fix node and putting them into a Rev node copied from the Valkyrie instead.

Using Valkyrie’s animation might mean your radar dishes are retracted inside the hull of the ship in your second picture. Those wing animations have a stop section, so they play once and then revert to the starting position. I know there are debugging tools out there with the ability to view your game in wireframe mode, just haven’t used / don’t know it personally. Anyhoo, that may be what is occurring. Or a spelling error, etc. Lots can happen and most of it’s hard to find ^.^
For your animation node, you might try the small station, tower section. It is constant rotate. -
I’d probably take the frames node from some already present animation, but what is essential for the whole thing to work is matching Fix/Rev nodes. For yours is a custom model you would need custom values for limits and offsets. the animation node itself just makes the motion work, not the parts actually show up or do so in the right place (ignoring pris animations, that can actually move your parts to distant places so they’d never even occur in space on the place they do in HardCMP or UTFEdit)
I must confess, that I had my difficulties, too, understanding w0dk4’s tutorial before I understood the cmp file format with the help of Sushi’s and Dev’s videos. However, once you get one animation right, you never again will have any problems making one of the same type again.

Thanks for your help! I re-exported the model and did things carefully this time, backing up the CMP file a lot and changing things one by one. I’ve tracked down the invisibility problem to something in the Rev node, although I’m not exactly sure what.
However, the dishes are showing up now and they’re moving too.

Can you do a video, please? I want to see it.

Now it’s just a matter of figuring out how to get the SUR to align with the animation.

Thanks nice work! Like it!
