How to Make a Lan Game
-
Can’t BOTH of you connect to your gameserver? Or only you?
However, you might need to forward the ports…(but not sure about cause it is LAN >_> )
Why do you use hamachi? Don’t you you in the same house/network?
Or it might be a problem with the FL server itself.
-
Ports don’t need to be forwarded if playing over LAN/Hamachi - it’s only when the server is behind a router and clients are accessing the server from the internet that ports need to be forwarded.
The only thing I can think of that might be causing this is either your or his firewall is blocking the traffic. Check that FLServer has permission to access the local network. If you are using ZoneAlarm, the Hamachi network adapter needs to be in the Trusted Zone in order to allow others to connect via it to FLServer. If you don’t trust everyone in your Hamachi networks, it would be best to instead just add your brother’s IP as a trusted IP.

Why do you need Hamachi if your brother is in the same LAN network? Hamachi emulates a LAN network.
Or did I undestand something worng?
-
As it wont show up a normal game as it didnt before and hemachi was a way around it so i believe.
But there is nothing in my lan game well there are now ive put the global work around, looks like we may have to find a server to play on is there any decent ones anyone willing to recommend.

Just choose by yourself, eheh.
You have enough servers to choose for ^^

Hold on, have you even started the server? As in, you see the FLServer window running?

Oki few things…
Can you see you brothers PC an he yours over your lan setup with other games?.. if yes then sweet if no… then get that working 1st…
Trick here… don’t know if its “still” valid but its needed on my lan setup
FL server choses a port at random… unless you tell it different like soon your Server shortcut open properties via right click and add a port as so at the end of the Target
……\flserver.exe /P2303
with /P2303 being your server forwarding port also clear that with the firewalls on both PC’s & routers and stuff…
Now IP’S… Grab yours (as the server) for eg 1.0.0.1:2303 and amend that to the end of your brothers FL shortcut Target line like so
…\Freelancer.exe -s1.0.0.1:2303
& yours as
…\Freelancer.exe -slocalhost:2303
Hope that helps…

I know this is an old topic but I have tried to start a LAN sever so that me and my friends can play freelance multiplayer but when I start the FLsever.exe using the shortcut or not my sever does not appear in the list of severs to join in the multiplayer LAN menu.
I have done the port forwarding, and added the -s and /P2303 parts to the shortcuts.
I don’t know what i am doing wrong.

Also told your firewall not to block the server?
Freelancer is somewhat sensitive if it comes to hosting a server.
