WARNING: FLMM mod file infection!!!!!!!
-
I activated my mod, and accidently opened the game’s EXE twice. After exiting the game, and uninstalling the mod with FLMM, I went forward with the modding, and installed back the mod. The game crushed. I said to myself: “Its probably again the problem with folder name…”, changed the folder name and tried again. CRUSH! It didn’t work. To check if its something with FLMM I installed another much smaller mod (one of my testing mods) and it worked. Then I did what I always do: Install a mod over my mod. Didn’t work (Which is extremely weird). I tried to istall the small mod sfter the “touch”, and the small mod crushed!!! INFECTED!!! I tried it with all the addons I usually add to my mod and same resault. Even more weird: Mods with files that were copied from the original mod (before the “infection”) like: KoS Menu Pack and KoS Storyline mods, didn’t work even without being “touched”.
So ALL FLMM USERS - BEWARE!!!
If this problem has a solution, please post it here.

What are you saying exactly, you’ve corrupted your freelancer installation or something?

Do you use FLMM 1.4? It is considered less stable, and I know many people dislike it. I have some reasons to prefer it over v1.3, but I recently did have some weird problems with it, with .flmmbak files ending up in the mod folder.
Anyway, a clichee advise but true nonetheless: be prepared to do a clean install of the game every one in a while. And back up your stuff.

obviously that means your mod is not compatible with certain other mods.
btw, FLSpew is the very first log i’d look into if i don’t understand a crash.Yes it is compatible. It works with all the attachments I made it.
Where do I find FLSpew? -
Completely remove the FLMM and reinstall it again. I’ve had something happen in the past like you’ve mentioned. If it’s giving you problems and you are still trying to reuse it, get rid of it and download a fresh install of everything, including the MM. Deleting everything in it may not help.

Apart from your whole issue with FLMM, it is recommendable to get acquainted with FLSpew.txt!
On my laptop (running on Vista) it’s in
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Freelancer
(actually it’s in C:\Users\gebruiker\AppData\Local\Freelancer but ‘gebruiker’ is Dutch for ‘user’ so I suppose that in an englisg version of Vista the location would be the one I gave)
In other Windows versions the location might be slightly different, but similar.
FLSpew.txt is a horrible file!! You will want to use FLSpit.vbs, which renders an easier-to-read copy of the FLSpew.txt, named FLSpit.txt file. I assume this tool can be found in the download section. If not, I can send ya a copy.
Btw it is indeed necessary to look into this file when you’re tracking errors, but you will also find errors you weren’t ware of. Some of them important, others much less so.
