Changing the "Loading" shape.
-
Well, you probably understood pretty much from the Subject.
I also wanna know if its possible to set a background picture for the loading screen. -
Do you mean DATA\INTERFACE\INTRO\IMAGES\startupscreen* ?
Edit: Oh sorry, you mean this thing… >.< I don’t know^^
-
Have a play with DATA\INTERFACE\INTRO\OBJECTS\front_loadingbar.cmp.

Gordon Bleedin’ Bennett!!
Just Do it and let US know!
FFS!
Anyone guess what that means?
-
I don’t know that’s ST’s talking but…
Any cmp file is very easy to be edit with UTF-EDITOR, specially after you known the loading bar just a material animation.
But about to change background… in loadingbar.cmp, there is a node named background021220115007.3db. you can try to change the texture to test.
-
Thanks for the info, I’ll tell you if I succeed.
Edit:
After decomposing it with XML Project, I found out that these are just colors and not one animated picture. I can replace the glow with little circles that will run there, but its not what I wanted. The “background” is the dark blue background behind the glow. My seconf question here is: Can I change the shape of the model (or size) through the XML text? (I’m pretty sure not)*ST try to hold up on this one, no "WHAT? LOL"s please.

There is no background - it just overlays whatever’s on screen at the time. The shape is defined in interface.generic.vms, which basically means you may as well create your own from scratch. Fortunately for you, I was curious enough to see if I could extract it, so find attached a version that the MilkShape importer will load.
-
WOW adoxa…… How can you do that? If you know that may possible to make a brand new interface!
-
Just used XML to copy the relevant data from interface.generic-102.vms.xml to a new file/VMeshData for the loading bar. Extracting everything from the interface files might be a bit trickier.
-
AMAZING!!! But wait, will Freelancer read this file?
Edit: If I edit it with Milkshape, How should I export it? -
if i got adoxa right, you have to export it as cmp, then use the xml project and copy the vmeshdata to the initial loading screen cmp-xml (interface.generic-102.vms.xml block) and then compile this one again to utf.
-
I don’t understand where is this “interface.generic-102.vms.xml”? I extracted interface.generic.vms to XML and it gave me 2 VMS files that I can’t extract any further.
-
Sheesh, do I have to do everything?! Click update, load attached settings. Freelancer will just load it, no need to do anything else.
-
So much thanks adoxa!!! Youre great!!!
So I just need to add this file to the game? -

Holy crap DvdMan! Okay, I’ll hold your hand:
1. Backup front_loading.cmp (optional).
2. Extract front_loading.zip & front_loading.ces.zip.
3. Start MilkShape, import front_loading.cmp (I used Freelancer CMP Importer V2.7).
3a. Select all, weld all vertices (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+W, Shift+Ctrl+A).
4. Do whatever (you’re really on your own here).
5. Save as .ms3d (optional).
6. Export using Freelancer CMP V0.3.
6a. Click Update, select front_loading.cmp.
6b. Load settings from front_loading.ces.
6c. Continue.
6d. Continue.
7. Start Freelancer, New Game (and F1) to test it out.
8. If it’s not right, shutdown Freelancer, go to 4.And to show that it works, attached the sample one I made when creating the settings file.

so, in theory it’d be possible to make the background have any possible shape and with the material you could define even a loading image. the loading bar itself could be moved to the corner somewhere… nice possibilities. but one problem: how to know, what geometrical size is equal to the screen size? does it depend on the resolution btw?
-
No “WHAT?” LOL!" DVDMan?
No, it would have been more like “Why don’t you pull your finger out of your bum and do it, and let us know how you did it for a change?”
That’s another day of delay in getting my sur exporter from adoxa.
