Having problems to make pods do anything except just showing.
The cargo hold doesn’t rize with equipment mounted (as I understand it doesn’t need).
The killer of the pods doesn’t benefit form doing it as it needs.
The message is only shown to the trader, but no any change is done concerning the cargo that is carried.

Maybe it is just damage related?
Did you try to use a gun, which does only very little damage?
Maybe try to have high hitpoints @ the goods and low at the pod.
Just guessing.

To get loot from cargopod need to destroy cargopod subtarget
