Sur file = memory issue?
-
Sorry, didn’t know where to place this. Using Schmackbolzen’s sur maker, I’ve noticed a little issue maybe. Using it on some older cmps, the file it creates (after opitmizing with lithunwrap) are huge compared to to vanilla FL. The issue stared after we started testing new systems using only those ships with the new sur created from the tool. We’ve check everything else, first to be sure it wasn’t some thing else, via FLspit. We then started importing old surs and the freezes and crashes started going away. We are wonder if its a memory issue (using more memory) since the new surs are very good, but at a higher file size. Anyone have any ideas?

You answered your own question when you started removing the SURs and the crashes stopped.
From my experiences I can say SURs are very touchy, they can lockup/CTD anywhere from launch of the game to the destruction of the ship.

Ok, here’s another question. Is there a max sur size you shouldn’t go passed?

I created .sur bigger than 1.5 mo without noticing any freeze/lag/crash
And yes generaly sur made with the schmackbolzen tool are bigger than those “by hand”
You don’t forget to wrap the obj in milkshape between litunwrap and the objtosur converter ? -
What do you mean wrap? Do you mean weld together after lithunwrap?

yep, sorry ^^
