High density stars by using Starsphere Utility
-
Hi,
I have a problem with this program, namely buildstarsphererunner.exe doesn’t work.
If I type the .ini file name in the command line and click ‘ok’ nothing happens a window appears for a half second and that’s all.
If someone has experince (khm Sushi) with it, I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance

I’ve created more starspheres with this than i know what to do with, it works fine. I’m using XP to create these so no idea if it will work with Vista or W7. If you’ve filled out the ini file correctly by reading the readme file, then your new starsphere ends up in the same folder with the same name as the ini file you entered. An example, mynewstarsphere01.ini will end up as mynewstarsphere01.cmp
This is taken from the 1.1 readme
COMPILING A FILE
Start the BuildStarshereRunner.exe. Enter the name of your starsphere, then click on the big button that says Run build starshere exe, and file will be generated into a CMP file for use with FL.
This little compilation addon utility was made by Gibbon & Crassicauda simply because the original version expected you to use the command line runner which for me was a big no no.
Enjoy

I went through both readmes, I have my ini file filled according the readmes, but it does nothing when I click on the button.
By the way I also use XP.The program has an own test stars.ini with proper name I assume it works but doesn’t.
EDIT: I found the problem it works perfectly now.

There is no command line with this utilty just for clarification. You start up the BuildStarsphererunner.exe, type in the name of the ini file into the big empty space so ‘stars01’ for instance, press the 'RUN BUILD STARSPHERE EXE button and roberts your fathers brother. No command line, no messing with dos, no nothing. The command line option was in the original version where Dev couldn’t be bothered to make it easy for anyone.

Not literally. I wrote down what was the problem and I also wrote I solved. After he wrote the same I did with caps.
What’s this? It’s cynicism without a reason. If he wrote before I said I solved that would be help.
Anyway, the readme doesn’t contain anything about how the ini works with the Buildstarsphererunner.exe. With or without extensions or how.
And before someone accusing me of criticize the program itself, I don’t criticize it.
It’s fine just I think the readme should contain the progress with the exe. -
Yes and he just meant that you don’t need to use command line, just the program itself, it doesn’t matter if you solved the problem, he can still try and help speed things up for you or make things easier, which he did.
The response to it was rude thats all, hence the comment.

Well i don’t think i’m going to leave it. I’m not going to just sit here and be accused of things when all i was doing was trying to help. Not my my #$%% fault he can’t use a readme. No more help for him then. And who said FL wasn’t dead with stupid attitudes like that? Bollocks to all this.

Anyway you always critize me without a reason not just here but at another topic as well. When I wrote to the original author (like Freestalker’s topic) you thought I wrote it to you. You always start a sentence with ‘Who said……’ You act like a child.
I’m getting tired.
And say whatever you want, readme doesn’t contain the method with the buildstarsphererunner.exe.
Having regards on ‘another FL server lost’ topic, I’m with FriendlyFire. So FF also has stupid attitude because he wrote the truth that nobody wanted to admit or hear?! Congratulation…As far as I’m concerned this topic is closed.

Right, I’m locking this. Drop the matter guys, it’s better this way.
