Has anyone heard of Pov-Ray
-
I was searching for free 3-d programs and found Pov-Ray
I thought it was a 3-d programe but seems rather more for creating textures
At this point it is beyond my understanding how to work it
I am wondering if it can be usefull For modding FL
and if any one knows how it can be used for FL
:For you smart ones the source code seems to be available.

Note: Moray is the actual 3d creation program that
was taken over by Pov-Ray it is also there to download -
I heard of Pov-Ray. My teacher used to model with it back in elder times. At that stage it was very numeric - there was not even a GL display. It appears that the editing still is based on code, in a more concrete syntax but yet similar idea as FL Thorn. If to judge by the renders it produces it may have advanced well among other tools. However, I think that the least artists work with Pov-Ray for the intuitivity one gets with the realtime GL software, or at least a display of what you are doing before you render it, is obviously more practical (where it comes to visual arts) than precision you may be getting through code.
The best free 3D software I heard of is Blender. Judged by the work of e.g. Madman1701A its modeling tools seem to have a potential well beyond the needs of us FL modders even. Despite it is free and thus may be worth consideration, be aware that to get good and quick at modeling with software of such a class may take its time. Tutorials we probably cannot provide but that are likely somewhere, would certainly help a lot.

and need a decent Free way or an inexpensive Good way -
For example i use blender because it have advanced features, not very much memory use and you can get a portable version and use it from usb stick for example (all freelancer stuff i keep them on a stick :)) ).
You can find many blender tutorials on the net (youtube for example) - that`s how i learned too.
