FL-HW mod (finally)

Gah, I can’t get it working! Can anybody tell me what I’m doing wrong?
1. I make a sphere in Milkshape, texture it , and then I invert it so the texture is displayed from the inside.
2. I export the model as a ship and export the .mat file into it.
3. I increase the model size to 90 and lastly I modify the system ini file and make it use the starsphere I made.
I launch the game and tested it but instead of the texture I wanted it to be it only turned black…

Well I don’t really know at this point, The end product is supposed to be post-cataclysm era. Where players can play the Beast, Somataaw , Imperial and Republic Taiidani aswell as the Kushan/Hiigaran and Kadesh. But the first version will include only Kushan , Taiidan, Turanic Raiders and Kadesh. Since it’s going to take a lot of balancing.

Oh, I know how that is. Going through a total rebalance of FW:ToW’s small craft right now.
Anyways, keep up the good work. if you need any help with things, feel free to PM me. I don’t have much time these days, but HW is something I grew up with, and I’ve always wanted to see an FL mod for it get out there.

Gotta say, I agree with Sizer on this one. Homeworld’s one of the most striking universes I’ve had the pleasure of playing with. A Homeworld FL mod would be a very fun thing indeed.

It’s been a while since I played HW but a lot of the visuals where from a fairly distant perspective essentially a long range turret view.
Try this link for a zoomable turret view that can be added to the mod build.

Side note: You know guys, what would be equally awesome? The Freelancer ships in HW2 engine.

You cant replace single ships mat files in game.

You could of course create some kind of equipment that covers your ship entirely, yes. For this maybe shieldgenerators are the best (but of course those arent linked in the shiparch).

Well guys, I haven’t made any updates in a long time because I’m a lazy person and my morale is pretty low. So I decided to release an alpha version so you guys don’t get dissapointed. Also I will host a hamachi server so you can try the game multiplayer. ETA 2-3 days.
