Yeah shutting down the server is not actually required when doing this. I’ve moved player accounts over to new MPID folders with no issues just by copy/pasting the character file into the new folder and then deleting the old account folder. And yeah backup is probably overkill especially if you already have regular backups scheduled as is. It might be a good idea to backup the one account you’re fiddling with I suppose, but that’s about it. To each their own though 🙂

Have used Vista for a while and didn’t have any problems.
Only thing i have done was disable UAC (the administrator thing)

And i didn’t use bitdefender from MS.
All that kind of build in stuff i didn’t use.
If you use the standard virus scanner and such, wich comes with the vista install that can give problems.

What you also can try otherwise, run it in compatibillity mode:
    Windows XP SP2.

You sure you also have the good drivers for your graphic card?

You could try what I use as a fail safe. Upload the file for a test at this link below, there it will run the gauntlet of 41 Mal-ware products. And reports what if any of them find.

Then if A-squared is the only one screaming foul, 🙂

    EDIT:
If it is a real large download file try using the md5/sha1/sha256 Hash Value first, someone else may have recently tested the same item.

The best way to do this would be to make your ship into a solar and simply place it somewhere within a system. Fly another ship up to it to take your screenshots.

There is a NO HUD mod somewhere around for Freelancer that removes 90% of all HUD elements except for a few very minor items. Use of that mod should help you out.

    @ Cannon, that’s, Version 0.4 for Dam?

@ Xarian, I really can’t say much about Vista since I haven’t used it and I know in the beginning, it played hell with Freelancer as for now, players HAVE found many ways to change that so, Ioncross may work well with it, idk. but, it does say it must use XP and that is all I know.

Glad you got it sorted dude. I know it sounds cliche, but uninstalling and reinstalling fixes a lot of problems.

Discovery 4.85 doesn’t need a workaround, it uses direct connect via DSUpdate.
This is getting spammed with unnecessary posts… Lockify?

Could also tack on a “phantom_physics = true” to its ini entry.

I know it may not be what you want to hear, but have you tried with another server/mod combination? If it works, it’d be isolated to Void, otherwise it’d be a problem with FLMM/FL overall.

Also, make sure to check in the bottom-right corner of your screen while in Freelancer for your version number; it should be different from 1.0 if you have a mod activated.

Vista is a bit touchy with user account control enabled when working with mods.

The solution is to go into the folder microsoft games, right click on the Freelancer folder, select properties. Once there security tab and then click edit permissions.

Once that box opens up then you have to select Users, and click the box to allow full control, then click Ok and Ok out of the other boxes.

This will allow you to apply mods, as its just when working with files within the program files folder that vista applies its protection.

Something I had to find out myself as I also have vista.

It will be far simpler and quicker to do the following:-

Double-click on Freelancer\EXE\myflaccountid.hta, write down your Multiplayer Account code, and keep it safe.

If you use more than one account on the same PC then do this for the other account(s) too.

De-activate the mod using FLMM. This is important. If it fails then uninstall and re-install FLMM.

Delete the mods in FLMM’s \mods folders (I never use the built-in ones anyway, this bit is up to you, I only keep the one or two that I am using). But definitely delete the troublesome Void one.

Rename your Freelancer game folder to BadFreelancer, or delete it.

Delete or rename the player files folder C:\Documents and Settings(your account name)\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer

    Re-install Freelancer from your CD.

Add the official MS 1.1 patch.

Copy the new Freelancer folder by selecting it in the right-hand pane of Explorer, then Ctrl-C, then Ctrl-V. You will now have a folder named Copy of Freelancer, with 1.1 patch, so you will never need to re-install again. In future you can just rename or delete a suspect Freelancer folder, then copy this copy and rename it to Freelancer. Easy. You can also move the copy to another partition or hard disk or a USB memory stick.

If you are not sure that your original downloaded mod file is good, download a fresh copy. Double-click on it and FLMM will load it up. Look for any errors in the log window. If its OK, activate it and try again.

No, no scratch. Maybe it was heat damaged or something. Not sure.

Hopefully I’ll see a few of you online. =]

Yups, we saw that as well.

Apparently some issue with the hoster of the website.

The gun server and the webby both ran on seperate servers, thats why the gun server still functions.
Will ask the owner if we can help him.

Thanks guys on all thinks. I hope that one good coder in the community now relise the real need of players and that
we will see one day mod or somethink that will give us more ship per character. And this thing about moding and
other thing here, what some people write, it is not a problem. If you don’t give some rispect on other work, they won’t respect your either.
This is normal thay you allways found one or two that are the best and that they think that are the smartiest, bether than all other people. But that kind of people must know that allways is someone smarter and better and etc. then they.

This subject is closed. Thanks on your post, good or bad.

I am pretty sure this is borderline flame, which is completely unnecessary. This negative kind of statement is precisely what we do not need - I have seen no evidence of somebody claiming they are “the best” or “the smartest” in this post, so please don’t insinuate it.

Other than that I stand by the fact that this will be a positive and perhaps the next logical step in hooking Freelancer! 😄
