Freelancer Alpha/Beta Version
-
Even if someone has the alpha/beta, it is probable that the executable changed so much that the features couldn’t be implemented. I could be wrong, however.
MK

AFAIK, there never was an alpha/beta. It was just in development for ages, and then came out as normal… with a demo etc. And I am inclined to think like MK anyway. Suppose there was, the chances of been able to do anything useful could be slim.
-
that is not 100% true… there was one alpha version… and 2 beta versions
some members of the old Starlancer community took part in beta testing FL… at least one of those guys is active herebut we are talking about agreements that were made for beta testing and possible consequences if those agreements get broken
-
Its funny when people mention agreements, when everyone who uses a mod is breaking the FL EULA
-
maybe its because i have a different view on this matter since i went to digital anvil (when they still were active) and asked if non-commercial modding is allowed
i tend not to break agreements -
I wasn’t implying you did
Is there anything public out there now where they state it is ok? Suppose MS got in one of their moods and decided to try and hang someone on it… where is their defence?
-
ive an old mail…. nothing else
but good enough -
If there were these tests and a looong development what the hell happened? Features that never made it… missing/incomplete stuff… I’m guessing budget cuts or something
You know anything about that OP?
-
changing concepts, changing crew, changing project leader and microsoft pushing it
originally FL looked much different and had a different concept (which didnt even include mp)
-
-
damned u microsoft…i would still play FL if it was like that

I still love the original Elite cockpit layout, with 3d radar, it looked quite like the bottom pic middle display above. Used to run it on a BBC micro, remember those? ;D
