A New Take on the Ever Persistent Text Issue
-
I’d love that, but my XP cd melted in a heatwave a few months ago. It’s why I switched to Vista…
-
Bah, I installed Windows 7 and it’s still doing the same thing… No Freelancer for me, then…
-
Seems to be a graphics problem then… Did you try different drivers for your graphics card?
-
Yeah, I tried 180.48 and 190.38, but with no change.
-
See if going into your nvidia control panel and restoring defulats does anything. I had had some FPS issues where it wouldnt get past 5 FPS… on anything i was doing lol made the text invisible and partially visible at times restored defaults and well… yay, just something else to try
-
Im might be a nub and such… but it realy looks like it can’t find the right fonts…
Aint there a font dir in the x86 directory?
-
Do you mean D:\Program Files (x86)\ , or a directory in the Freelancer folder? I can’t see an x86 folder in the game directory.
-
Just a thought, but from what I saw when I updated the hardware database on my FL install, it could be entirely possible that the entry for your graphics card, or the fact that it may not have one, is the reason for your problem.
I personally have a geforce 8800 GTX and have never had that issue.
Have you updated your hardware from the 1.0 basic? The download is available on this site.
Just a thought, might be wrong, only just delving into this game myself lol.
-
Do you mean the flconfigdatabase mod? Yeah. =]
-
I have new information that may help! I installed from the autoplay menu this time, and I noticed that the fonts are missing from the buttons there as well! I’m at a loss for exactly what this indicates, though…
-
I know this is bad to talk about on the forum, but I had to express my glee. Instead of using my CD, in desperation I downloaded a copy and it works brilliantly.
Thanks for your help, people,
-
Then maybe try adding your card in and adding the commands in 1 by one or combinations of them, I know that might be harsh considering the combinations, but it might be an issue related to that.
-
Must be that your CD is corrupted. Do you see any scratch?
Glad to hear it’s fixed anyhow!
-
No, no scratch. Maybe it was heat damaged or something. Not sure.
Hopefully I’ll see a few of you online. =]
