I Can't Create A New Character - HELP!!!

I’m sorry, but the character name you selected is already in use on this server.Please choose another name and try again.
No matter what name I shoose, even one I know for a FACT that does not exist. Do I delete a file somewhere maybe? Can I edit something? Kicking it between the teeth in not an option as well as screaming “DO IT” loud enough to wake the dead, LOL. I’ve seen this before, but never knew what to do and still don’t. I can’t find help on this anywhere.

Delete your FLServer.cfg and Accounts.cfg located in
“My Documents > My Games > Freelancer > Accts > Multiplayer”
its either delete both or delete one or the other
should help either =] -
I tried deleting FLServer.cfg, but the program won’t start without it. Trying the other one now……
And no it did not work

when it last did this i just deleted the entire directory, player files and all (back up obviously) that solved it. if that dont work has no idea =]

for me it seems the newcharakter.ini is messed , if u play modded just copy this file form the mod exe folder to your FL/exe folder . if you play Vanilla you can try to reinstall FL or ask a Freind to send u the file over and test it out .

Restore your newcharacter.ini, As Venom say.
If you want to change start setting, best way is decode and edit the mpnewcharacter.fl, not edit newcharacter.ini.
